Showing Questions 1-2 of 2

Q: Are these cables (brake and shifter) road, mountain or both? Thanks!

A: You will have to select if you need brake or shift cable. They are for both road and mountain.

Q: Do the brake cables have two different ends on them? One is shaped like a cylinder and the other is shaped somewhat like a pear. I need the pear shaped end when working on some vintage bikes. Thanks

A: These brake cables are universal. Simply chop off the cable end that you do not need.

This cable is great for quick replacements, the price is great for a good product! No fraying problems and seems to work just fine. I have a few extras for "just in case" and will always keeps these on hand.

I have not had the fraying issues that other reviewers experienced. My trusty ( http://www.pricepoint.com/Brand/Titan/Titan-Cable-and-Housing-Cutter.axd ) perform well with these cables. Buy a bunch cheap and be the goto cable guy for your friends. The more you buy the cheaper they are too.

I like Shimano more - Nov 22, 2013

Fairly priced but I think they fray more than the shimano cables. Plus, you have to cut the end before running it through housing which can cause it to fray and is then exasperated by the housing.

I feel the Shimano cables are more fray-resistant. However, still works well.

Frays when cut - May 23, 2013

I have used many of these cables and the brake cable is usable but the shifter cable, which must be cut to use as both ends are terminated with different style tips, frays almost every time and can be unusable. I don't recommend the shifter cable at all. The type that are terminated at one end only are much better as the unterminated end is finished so it threads through all shifter types and cable housing easily.
