Alligator Super Fortress Cable Kit is a lightweight double-jacketed compressionless housing fortified with stainless steel wire mesh for durability. This brake and gear cable kit features ultra low-friction pre-stretched sleek PTFE coated cables. The flat surface of these cables gives maximum precision and smooth operation.
This kit is highly recommended for all cable-actuated (mechanical) disc brakes, as well as direct pull brakes.
The Super Fortress Brake cable and housing set is great for use with mechanical/cable actuated disc brakes like the Avid BB7.

This housing is incredibly stiff, and was a little bit of a pain to work with, but now that its on it seems very solid. Probably not as lightweight as other housing as others have mentioned, but definitely bullet proof.
I purchased this kit to fit a size large 29er. This bike has full housing, so the housing in this kit was not enough for both derailleurs. Make sure you measure, to see if there is enough for your bike.
I bought both a set of brake and shifter cables. I used these on a road bike and have had no problems with them. The brakes work better than ever since the housing is incredibly stiff. On the down side they are a bit heavy and less flexible. If you need to have sharp bends in your cable run then you may want to look elsewhere. They are also oversized so they need an adapter ferule (included) to work with some guide stops.
Used these on my last bike build. After a season of riding, they are as good as the day I installed them. Very pleased with them.
Product describtion: So the description is thus: “Alligator Super Fortress Cable Kit is a lightweight double-jacketed compressionless housing fortified with stainless steel wire mesh for durability” – in actual application the cable housing is comparatively very heavy – the words “steel” and “light weight” should only be used relative to masonry and iron. The cable housing is solid and bullet proof, but that makes it overkill. It’s not the weight - but the lack of flexibility from the stillness that dooms this product. You don’t need it and I doubt you’ll even want it
