PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Avid BB7 Road Platinum with G2CS Rotor 2014

All the features and performance of the BB7 in a disc-brake package that is designed for the demands of the road.

Tri-Align Caliper Positioning System is another original Avid technology making your life better. There's never been an easier brake to install and adjust. With Avid's Tri-Align Caliper Positioning System, aligning the caliper to the rotor literally takes seconds. Just loosen the CPS bolts a little, and then squeeze the brake lever while re-tightening the bolts. Perfect caliper alignment-just like that.

Please Note: This brake is specially designed to work with drop bar style road brake levers. It is NOT compatible with MTB brake levers. The 160mm brake works as either a front or rear brake and fits both post mount and IS style brake mounts. However, the 140mm brake is rear specific only and will NOT work on the front.

  • With Avid's Tri-Align Caliper Positioning System, aligning the caliper to the rotor literally takes seconds
  • Weight: 335 grams (160mm rotor; front post mount)
  • This brake is sold individually
  • Each brake includes a rotor, two brake adapters, all hardware needed for installation, and an installation manual
  • Brake cables, housing, and levers are NOT included

I've been using a set for two years on my commuter/touring bike. They've been through lots of rain and mountain descents without fail. They're easy to setup. Both pads are independently adjustable and the inline adjuster is a nice touch. My only complaint is the sintered pad noise on wet rotors. They howl much worse than the sintered pads on my Elixir 5 brakes. Excellent stopping power/modulation with the stock rotors/pads.

I just got this system on a new cyclocross bike. There is definitely a big, noticeable difference between hydraulic discs and mechanical in stopping power! That said, these have been enough to lock up the rear to avoid death and so far stop at least as well as rim brakes. I had a little trouble getting the rotor centered despite the claim of ease but it was not too difficult. Front wheel is very easy to line up, rear is tough and the rotor likes to scrap the inside of the chain stay. Will take some getting used to, but overall the system is good!
