Just spend the extra $20 and get Elixir 3's - Apr 30, 2014

If stopping and control are your thing, then these are not the brakes for you. I've bled mine 15 times, each time it lasts a single ride before requiring me to pump them up to get any grab. Just spend the extra $20 and get the Elixir 3's, they're bulletproof and strong. I used my 3's on the front all winter on my Fat Bike flawlessly.

These brakes have gotten some bad write-ups online for their noisiness and bleed issues, but I have zero complaints. They came stock on a 2012 bike I bought and have performed admirably given their low price. I have experienced no noisiness or squealing and the braking power is much better than cable-based brakes I've used in the past. Also, after about 20 hours of use the lever feel is still very firm, with no air having entered. My only complaint is that one of the levers has some up and down play in it, as if the bushing is not quite machined to the proper tolerance. It doesn't effect the braking action at all, it just feels funny.

Like the title says they are good for the price. They have good braking power but are squeaking most of the time. Good medium level brake
