Ok brakes - Jun 10, 2014

These brakes came with my bike. I am new to hydraulic brakes and I didn't have to beeld them yet, so for now I am quite satisfied. Although I agree with the other reviewers: -> my front has a great feeling, precise and strong whereas the rear is plushy (and strong too). -> the lack of adjustment is a bit of a shame... the manual says that the small screws should make the levers closer or away from the fingers, on mine nothing happens. So I will probably try to bleed the rear one soon and maybe someday upgrade both, but so far they provide some good braking and don't squeek too much which is all that matters to me.

Horrible Modulation - May 12, 2014

1 out of 5 stars
Santa Barbara, CA

After receiving these breaks, I cut and bled them as instructed by Avid. I have over 10 years experience with bleeding hydraulic breaks, and after 5 full bleeds, I can't believe how hard it is to get these breaks to feel "right". They don't engage until they nearly touch the bars, and there is absolutely no modulation. They go from no break to full break instantly. Buy the Elixir 5s and save yourself the headache.

Decent brakes - Apr 27, 2014

Got these to replace the brakes on my wife's bike. I have and like Elixers and these felt decent. They felt ok out of the box, but of course needed the lines shortened and bled. Not as nice as their higher end Elixers, but for the price they are a very nice brake.

Horrible brakes. Soft from the start then got new pads and bleed works well for a while then back to soft. I just don't really like Avid brakes

Not so great.. - Apr 14, 2014

These brakes would be ok for someone new to hydraulics I suppose. They offer no real adjustments and the feel of the levers change as you ride. They will pump up and have from the start, even after a bleed. I have only had them for about 6 months and I am replacing them with Hopes.

This brake prior to shortening the brake line and a proper bleeding arrived with a squishy feeling, most likely had air in the lines. After bleeding them they are fine.
