If You Must, This Is The Kit - Oct 24, 2015

But seriously. Switch to Shimano. This kit is the best if you have to bleed Avids, but keep in mind that all the nasty stuff about DOT fluid doesn't even cover the fact that once it's opened, it's no good after a few months. DOT fluid is hygroscopic, which means that once the seal's been broken, the fluid starts attracting any nearby water, including anything atmospheric. If you bleed brakes with DOT fluid that's been opened for a while, the DOT fluid will also have a lot of water in it. When this water gets heated during heavy braking, it will boil. The boiling will create air bubbles in your closed brake system and pretty soon, you will need to bleed again because your brakes aren't working correctly. This means that your only good option to is throw away any remaining brake fluid after a bleed and buy a new bottle when it's time for the next bleed. Mineral does not present you with this problem.

Works as promised although I miss the low maintenance Avid mechanical...it took 5 cycles of the process to get the air out.

Overpriced, but decent fittings - Apr 30, 2014

The parts in the kit appear to quality and the fittings are nice since they rotate without binding the tubing. The tubing clamps are kind of pain to close one-handed. Air always pulls in through the back of the plunger. This kit seems like a substantial hidden cost for owning a set of Avid brakes. It's definitely a step up from the standard kit, but I don't consider it a "got my money's worth" purchase.

worth the extra $ - Apr 23, 2014

the Pro version of the bleed kit may seem like overkill vs the standard kit but the fittings alone make up for the difference. The syringe is much more robust vs the "medical" type. The fittings on the end of the hose swivel as to not require to rotate complete assembly. Bleeding was a breeze. Watch the bleed procedure videos on internet and bleed like a pro.

A good kit - Apr 04, 2014

im no bike mechanic but this kit was very easy for me. it took long to get all the air bubbles out but the time to do front and rear was about 45 minutes. once you get better at it you can probably do between 10-15 minutes. I just went very slow my first time. overall good product!!

Avid brakes are a plain but this is a good kit to service them. Plungers sealed well.
