Breezer Supercell Expert 29 inch Bike

What happens when the godfather of mountain biking teams up with the world's leading mechanical engineers? The Supercell emerges. Joe Breeze has created a groundbreaking new trail bike. 29 inch wheels and 120mm of suspension travel lead to a rig that redefines big wheel handling and full-suspension efficiency. The secret to the success of the Supercell frame is Breezer's MLink (Mid Link) technology. The Supercell comes with a critical pivot in the middle of the chainstay, balancing out opposing forces for a smooth and efficient system with less flex, less binding, and less bearing and pivot stress. Unmatched efficiency gives you better climbing power, greater speed, and increased control.

Great all-around bike and great value - Mar 18, 2016

I've had my Breezer Supercell Expert for about a year now. It was my first 29er, and the first full squish bike I ever put serious mileage on. So far, I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. Shortly after I got it, I started racing (well, participating in races - cat 3, back marker, but it's a start), and this bike has been ideal for me. I didn't have much experience as a trail rider and this bike has been a solid steed as I have gained experience on all sorts of terrain. It climbs well, descends competently, and the suspension has enough travel and damping to allow me to go nearly anywhere. The components: Drivetrain has never given me an issue. Shifting is always solid. Brakes are amazing and seem to last well. I have gotten a bit of noise from brakes, but that is the exception. The handlebars were a bit wide for me, but I'd rather cut them down than to have to buy wider bars. Loved the stock grips but I've worn them out after a hard year. The stock seat has fit me pretty well. The wheels have been the weak spot for me, so far. In Oklahoma, we have some fast and smooth trails, and some which are really rough and rocky. After bombing through the rocky trails a few times, my front rim was toast. However, I could have easily spent far more on a bike with rims that couldn't stand up to the rocks. If you ride much, you'll go through aluminum rims - that's life. I went to wheels with 45mm carbon rims and 2.4 inch wide tires (and have room to go a bit wider) - making this Supercell a mini fat. This bike is on the heavy side (mebbe a couple of extra pounds), but I have ultimate confidence that if I keep up with the maintenance, I could possibly ride my Breezer forever. I see all kinds of different bikes on the trails. Bikes better than this one easily cost twice what I paid. I think you would have a hard time finding a better full suspension 29er for the price, and I've recommended this bike to numerous friends.

Amazing ride - Jan 03, 2016

I received my Breezer SupercellSupercell Expert as a Xmas gift. This was my first 29er. My prior bike was a 26 inch full suspension and I now know all my time to make my old bike good was waste. The Supercell just does so much with so little effort. The Mlink suspension truly stay up in stroke and almost never use the lockout. My prior FSR style bike just worked me to death. I don't feel beatup like the guys I ride with. So for rides like San Tan park and the Desert Classic at South Mountain this bike is a magic carpet.

Worth the hype - Dec 27, 2015

I just got back from riding this bike in the SDSF Flow Trail in Santa Cruz and it's everything I hoped it would be. It climbed great all the way up to the top of the trail and tracked nicely through the berms and rollers. It handled jumps and steep rutty sections as well. The only thing it's missing is a dropper post. I did feel a little far forward on the bars on some of the steeper sections but nothing terrible. The X-fusion suspension is nice although it lacks all the options you might get with a Fox set up which is ok.

What a find! - Oct 17, 2015

Fast two day delivery. Ordered a medium (18.5) size, fits perfectly Im 5'10", I think a large would have been a bit too big. I compared the geometry dimension with my current HT bike geometry and realized the 100mm stem was too long. So I ordered a 60mm stem, and 25mm riser 720mm wide handlebars. The riser bars are a personal preference. The straight bars would be ok as it comes. This bike is is a perfectly dialed to me, I guess you don't always have to get professionally fitted to a bike. The bike weights in around 31-33lbs with pedals. For warranty purposes, took it to a LBS for proper assembly certification. The manager was very impressed with the bike and had nothing but good things to say about the XFusion suspension parts and how plush it feels. The bike rides like a dream, the MLiink suspension resist pedal bobbing on the road going up a steep hill with the shock open/unlocked. I notice slight rear suspension bobbing when rising off the seat and mashing down on the pedals and going uphill. Frankly, I don't think I'll ever lock the rear shock, the suspension design is that good. The bike frame seems overbuilt and made to last, the rear link parts are hefty and well built, hence the weight penalty of about 2 lbs. Given a choice of durability and a rear linkage that is going to last, I'll take the 2 lbs. Buy it.

Great bike for the $$ - Oct 01, 2015

I have been riding MTB for over 20 years, I was excited to take it out for it's first ride last weekend. 1000' of climbing which it ate up with no problem unlike my legs, then we had a killer downhill for 15mn at high rates of speed with some air here and there, it definitely does what all the reviews say: climbs well and handles all you throw at it except for huge air I am sure. My bro has a Rocky mountain Element '14 and he really liked the design and the slightly steeper head angle.

Great bike and at the sale price an absolute steal! I would buy it again in a heart beat. This is my first FS bike and I don't know why I didn't get one sooner. I am 5-10 and the medium fit me great.

Great Bike - Sep 28, 2015

After riding competitively in the past, kids and life came up. So, I haven't been in the bike loop for over ten years. WOW, how technology has boomed. This bike at this price point is awesome. Hadn't had a chance to put it to trails yet, but riding the road with my kids was a pretty good measure of how stiff the suspension would ride under load. A couple big climbs and this thing motors as smooth as silk. Can't wait to really push it on the trails, but I couldn't be happier. Just spec-ing the parts mix against other bikes in this price range, this one is by far the best bang for the buck. The frame design/fit/finish is top notch.

been riding the bike once to twice a week for almost two months now. the 120mm travel for both front and rear is great. it climbs well, you can feel the rear tire stays on the ground while climbing. i upgraded the stem to 35mm short stem and to 810mm handle bar. it handles a lot better now than my old 29er hardtail. bike is solid, no complains as of yet.all in all awesome bike for great price. will highly recommend!!!

Rides Like the Wind - Jul 05, 2015

Metro Detroit, MI

It took longer to unpack the bike than to assemble it. It took another hour to set up the suspension and front derailleur. I havent done any adjustments since. A nice job by Breezer and Pricepoint. I did have to download some manuals from the X fusion website to setup the suspension correctly The frame is robust and components are quality so I foresee this bike being very durable for the longterm and perhaps a good bike for larger riders due to the beefy frame I was concerned about the weight of the bike as it was 3 pounds heavier than my hardtail. Once I got it on the trail I did not notice the weight and but I did notice this bike rode AMAZINGLY well. Suspension keeps it hooked up whether cornering or climbing. It downhills with security and you never feel like its going to break loose unexpectedly. Confidence inspiring! I keep setting PR's on strava. FIrst ride I PR'd a big hill that has vexed me for a while and I wasnt even trying. The more I ride, the more PR's Im accumulating and the more I love this bike. Did I mention it climbs like a beast? That it just wants you to go faster and faster, always pushing you on? Ive got moderate riding and technical skills and this bike was a big step up from my hardtail. For $1400 I dont think youre going to find a better full suspension bike... And I think it competes well with hardtails in this price range As for weight Ive added a CF bar and seatpost, lighter seat and shaved off 10oz. This helps. Tubeless next!

Great bike, great value - May 24, 2015

Prather, CA

A little background first: I didn't know anything about the Supercell or Breezer bikes in general before I saw the 2014 Supercell on sale here at Price Point. I read as much as I could and learned a great deal about Joe Breeze and the long history of Breezer bikes. In 1977 Joe's "Breezer 1" was the first frame built specifically for what became mountain biking, it's resides in the Smithsonian (link) . So the pedigree is there, the geometry and handling from years of experience is there, and Breezer bikes collaboration with the Sotto group for the suspension design brings that final element to the table. This review is for the Supercell Expert. Purchased during a sale, the bike shipped very promptly and arrived with the Breezer box packed inside another box with the additional small items I ordered, very well protected. After assembly I did a torque check of all fasteners, adjusted the brakes, derailleurs and installed my pedals. (BTW, it doesn't come with pedals, so if you don't have a favored set already you'll need to buy some) I set the sag 25% or a bit less and she was ready to ride. This is my first 29er, and even though the reviews mention the handling I was concerned it would feel sluggish coming off my lefty equipped Cannondale Rush. Not at all. The Supercell felt great right away, and after a couple of ergonomic adjustments I was ready to go. Took the bike out to the San Joaquin River trail near Fresno, CA. The point I entered the trail starts off with a steep, rutted single-track downhill and the bike performed superbly. The brakes were broken in and working great by the time I got to the bottom. The only thing that held me back on the rest of the ride my my own weakness, since i haven't been riding my legs and lungs were not cooperating. I realized quickly that I should have set the bike up with a bit more sag, since it was a bit stiff. However, it climbs great, is very flickable in the switchbacks, stable and precise downhill, rolls over and through the rocks FAR better than the Rush. X-Fusion suspension worked well, and the interesting mLink rear was very compliant but didn't waste any of my meager energy in the climbs. It's very new, and only time and miles will confirm my initial ride impressions, but it rides great, it's a good looking bike and the build quality appears to be excellent, I'm very pleased with the purchase.
