CamelBak Podium Chill 21oz Bottle
CamelBak Podium Chill is a high performance insulated sport bottle that keeps your water cooler longer. A double-walled bottle construction uses closed cell foam technology to keep your water cold twice as long as a standard bottle. The patented spill-proof, self-sealing Jet Valve allows the user to hydrate immediately without having to open or close a drinking interface and the bottle’s streamlined ergonomic design offers excellent squeezability without compromising bottle grip. The large aperture of the drinking nozzle generates an exceptional water flow rate and is easy to remove for thorough cleaning. The Podium Chill also has a lockout dial with easy to read graphics for leak-proof transport.
Throw some ice cubes in there and you're good to go. The Podium Chill 4x is even better though--4x the insulation. Love the mouthpiece on these things. Just don't take them mountain biking. You'll get a pellet of dirt in your mouth after a mess ride.
I have owned this bottle for a couple years and I wouldn't go on a ride without it. My ride is usually 1-2 hours long and I have ridden on some of the hottest days of the year. I fill this bottle almost to the top with ice cubes and then add cold tap water to the top. My water is always cold for the first hour or so, until I have my first drink. After an hour or your first drink the water will start to warm at a quicker pace. Depending on how much you drink in the first couple hours the water will warm at a rapid pace. By far this is better than a non insulated bottle. I also use this bottle when I go to long meeting and need water and it works well.
This is one of those personal opinion things again, but I wasn't overly impressed by this bottle. I owned this one and several of the other major maker insulated bottle and the other maker is just a superior product...in my opinion of course. For starters this bottle does not insulate as well as the other maker does, it keeps cold fluids cool for about an hour less than the other but that is still better than non-insulated bottles. The second objection to this bottle is that in their pursuit of having an easy to squeeze bottle it won't hold up to accidental drops or ejections as well, I dropped mine and it split open, I've dropped the other famous maker bottles many times and no damage ever. And lastly it only holds 21 ounces vs 24 for the other, granted 3 ounces isn't that much but in my mind more is better, and taking two bottles limits you to 6 ounces less then the other maker, however they do make the Big Chill that holds 25 ounces if more is better for you, but I like more insulation too. I do however like the Jet Valve which is the same thing their Camelbak packs use and it is nice. But again, at least for me, it boils down to primarily not having a hot drink 2 hours down the road while the other maker is still cold or at least cool. I gave it three stars because one star was taken away for the lower capability to insulate as well as the other maker, and another star for the seemingly fragile bottle design. Personally I would give 3 1/2 stars due to the Jet Valve but this site doesn't have a 1/2 star.
