Clif Shot Energy Gel
Clif Shot Energy Gel has fewer ingredients than other brands, but more of what your body needs most for clean natural energy. The streamlined approach gives you a performance advantage with a fast-acting energy source from organic maltodextrin and organic evaporated cane juice and with more essential electrolytes.
Generally, performance athletes need to consume 200-400 calories per hour from all sources, such as gels, chewables, bars and drinks. We recommend 1-3 gels per hour to help support these needs.
defenitly have their place - when you don't want to stop and chew and f/ or fill your gut with a solid bar...
I didn't believe in gels ("that's not real food") until I got some for free at cross races, and ate one 15 minutes or so before. Definitely felt the difference. Especially with the caffeinated ones - watch out, the different flavors have varying amounts of caffiene.
i realize that the caloric value of these type products in usually the more important aspect, but i hate choking down goo that taste like birthday cake icing. the berry and coffee flavors are very good. but then again, most everything clif puts out is good.
