I'm absolutely in love with this tire! A tough tire, with an XC feel. I ride mostly Enduro/Big Mountain terrain!

Awesome rear tire... - Jun 06, 2014

5 out of 5 stars

I ride an alloy Yeti SB66 on trails that range from steep & rocky to fast & flowy. I'm running a 2.2 Mountain King in the rear and putting a 2.4 X-King in charge of things up front. I'll start this off by confessing that I am a full-fledged tire junkie. I can't even tell you how many tires I have hanging in my garage. I'm picky about my tires and I've been a long-time Maxxis guy when it comes to tires. But I've always wondered what German rubber felt like so I splurged on these tires about a month ago. Let's face it, these aren't cheap shoes for your bike. My all-time favorite tire combo has been a Maxxis Ardent up front and a Maxxis High Roller in the rear. The bar was set high for these Continentals and it doesn't take me long to expose a tire's weaknesses once I get them on dirt. I like a front tire that grabs the trail like it owes me money and a rear tire that grabs well but can be broken loose when I want to drift the back end thru the turns. I've been seriously impressed with these tires. This tire can grab the steepest, rocky climbs with ease and yet when I'm laying it down in the corners I can easily control its drift. Its slides very predictably but yet I can also hold it tight thru the turns if the turn doesn't allow any drifting. I am stingy about giving out 5-star ratings but I gotta give it to the Krauts, they know how to make an absolutely wonderful tire. Here are my highlights: They installed easily onto my Sun Ringle Charger Pro wheels. They hold their air pressure amazingly well. The sidewalls are strong. The grab the trail with ease, yet can still break free for a drift if you feel like it. The knobs are holding up very well in our rocky terrain. They roll super fast. The only thing I can't comment on is their performance in the mud. Our trails have a high clay content so when it's muddy we can't ride our trails. My suspicion is that they would be good at shedding the muck since the lugs have an adequate amount of space between them. I can't recommend these tires enough. If you've wanted to check these tires out but were hesitant because of the price or because you're not familiar with Continentals, I strongly urge you give these tires a try.

Great looking tires. Great grip. A little on heavy side but love the fact that with regular use with my xtr ust wheel set I don't need to add air for months. Convenient!!!

I am loving these tires. They mount and seal tubeless easily and hold air for weeks. I am able to run low pressure with no problems. The traction on dry and loose dirt is great. Can't say anything about wet conditions, we are in a drought.
