Crank Brothers Eggbeater 3 Pedals

The Eggbeater is a simple and elegant solution to maximize performance and ease of use with minimal weight. There is no excess material or weight here, but cast stainless steel body and wings ensure durability and consistency. Clipping in is possible from any "side" of the pedal, 6 degrees of lateral float eliminates unnecessary stress on joints and the Eggbeater design sheds mud and debris, allowing for quick and easy engagement in any condition. Asymmetrical cleats allow installation for either 15 or 20-degree release angles.

I really like these pedals. I will admit they took some adjustment on my part from my previous shimano SPD pedals, but now that I'm used to them they are great. Can be a little tough to find the engagement point from time to time, but it just takes practice. I guess that's the trade off for the minimalist lightweight design. Four sided entry and impossible to clog with mud is awesome. I used to have mud clogging problems with my SPDs.

Classic MTB Pedal - Apr 30, 2014

I've owned several different versions of Egg Beaters for past and present mountain bikes. The latest Eggbeater 3's are holding up well, are reasonably light weight, and you can't beat them in the mud. The only issue I've ever had is that you tend to get un-clipped if you happen to graze the top of a rock (more of a pedal-stroke issue rather than the actual pedal).

Simple - Apr 24, 2014

These are really easy to use pedal, no adjustement at all. Even if there is a big pile of mud under your shoes, when you put your feet on the pedals, it just works. They are light compared to most other pedals. The bearing on one of mine exploded after about a year, used a rebuild kit and it works flawless since then. The minimalist design is great however it does mean you have to use them with cycling shoes, if this is a matter to you then do not consider this pedal.

Bomb Proof - Apr 09, 2014

I have read a lot of criticism regarding durability of these pedals. I must have been lucky, as I rode my first pair trouble-free for 12 years. I was going to rebuild them, but Crank Bros. offers a sweet 1/2 price trade-in deal, so I simply got a new pair. The new ones feel even better. You simply cannot beat the simplicity, consistency, and mud shedding ability of these pedals.

Good, but not super fast clip-in - Apr 02, 2014

I bought these for cyclocross and I am happy with the weight and ease of pedalling, once you are clipped in. However, I always had problems getting one or both feet clipped in quickly after a remount, even in dry conditions. I didn't have any problems with my previous Shimano-style cleats and pedals. Interestingly, when I downgraded to the Eggbeater 1 pedals that came with my bike, all clip-in problems went away.

I use these pedals on both my Niner jet 9 and old steel road bike. They are easy to get in and out of, but keep your foot secure and planted on the pedal at all times. I have been using the 3's and the 1's and the 3's are top notch. I will now only buy the eggbeater 3's

Great - Jul 15, 2013

Light, consistent, durable, easy to clip in and out.... These are great pedals. I have had these on my mtn bike for years and I love them. Even ride them in street shoes sometimes, as necessary, and there is still enough pedal to get away with it if you are careful! I will buy crank brothers again and again!
