Easton EA90 XC 26-Inch Rear Wheel 2013

Easton EA90 XC 26-Inch Rear Wheel 2013

The EA90 XC wheel was designed from the ground up for competitive trail riding and cross country racing. The aluminum rims are welded for an airtight UST seal right out of the box (no fussing with rim strips or sealant). And because the internal rim width is a generous 19-millimeters, these wheels easily accommodate tires as wide as 2.35". The rims are laced with 24 Sapim double-butted spokes to a flashy set of anodized red M1 hubs and sealed cartridge bearings keep the EA90 XC spinning trouble free.

This wheel is available in a wide array of axle configurations - the front wheel is available in 9x100-millimeter (standard QR) or 15x100-millimeter (QR15) and rear wheel is available in 10x135-milliemter (standard QR) or 12x135-millimeter or 12x142-millimeter - ensuring that any trail rider or cross country racer can enjoy the EA90 XC.

Great Wheel - Apr 28, 2014

I ordered the Easton EA90 XC 26 inch rear wheel to go with the front wheel and because it was lighter than my stock wheel and accommodated a 2.35". I have to say that this wheel looks great and I can definitely tell the difference in how much lighter it is compared to my previous stock wheel. It also allows me to go tubeless if needed without needing to purchase a separate adapter kit. All in all a great purchase.

Raising the bar for UST wheels - Apr 23, 2014

1 2 3 4
4 out of 5 stars

The EA90XC wheelset raises the bar for UST wheels. I am an old school UST believer as I don’t want to deal with conversion kits or worry about popping a bead. I had to replace an older pair of Mavic UST wheels and these fit the bill due to the price and features. This pair has been great. They are well designed, light weight and have held up to my abuse over the last year. These feature a sealed rim, so you don’t need rim tape/strip. They have a deep well in the rim, allowing for easier mounting of tires. I have been able to hand mount tires without the need for a tire lever (I know you are not supposed to use levers on UST tires, but I have had to on my previous wheels), which makes it much easier, especially if you ever have to change a tire on the trail. I would give these a 5, but the one downside is the tubeless stems they provide. The rubber seal on the stem is not very durable and I pulled one out while using a hand pump on the trail. I ended up replacing the stems with Mavic UST stems and they have been flawless. If you want to go tubeless, do yourself a favor and go with this wheelset and you will not be disappointed. Pros: Sealed UST RIM, lightweight, well designed, easy tire mounting Cons: Poor quality stems

Great wheel for the dough - Apr 23, 2014

I used this to replace a Mavic Crossmax rear wheel that I've grown tired of maintaining. Since I'm still milking my old bike withOUT thru-axles, this was a great option. The Crossmax could take a beating and was always true, so I was a little concerned this wheel would live up to my expectations. But so far, so good. Super smooth and strong. And none of the constant freehub issues I had with the Mavic rear.
