PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Easton EC90 SL 700c 38mm Tubular Front Wheel 2012

The EC90SL offers braking performance and durability on par with traditional aluminum tubular wheels, but with the reduced weight and enhanced stiffness that only a carbon tubular can offer.

Exclusive ThermaTec brake track treatment provides smooth, easily modulated braking power and reduces heat build-up under heavy braking. Easton composites engineers have created a 38mm deep carbon rim with superior impact resistance. Unlike other carbon wheels, the entire EC90SL rim is molded into its final shape in one process, ensuring superior strength.

The EC90SL is the only carbon rim to survive tests in Easton's laboratory for impact and fatigue resistance as well as brake track torture test, handling temperatures up to 500 degrees F. Every EC90SL is entirely hand-built and acoustically tuned in Easton's own factory.

Oversize/overweight charge applies to this item.

Awesome Wheels - Jun 12, 2014

Let's clear the air, here. These wheels aren't as aero as Zipp, Enve, or even Reynolds Aero. Yep. I said it. They aren't. That said, who cares? For most people, the difference is getting to the gran fondo's rest stop about 3 seconds faster than everyone else. In a race, that's huge. Everywhere else, inconsequential. Save $1000/wheel and get these. What's so special about the EC90 SL wheels? They're light. Like, scary-light. People will pick them up and look at you funny. You'll nod back and walk with a little swagger. They roll incredibly fast, thanks to incredibly smooth ceramic bearings. How fast? In a recent race, I was able to coast down the descents at over 50mph and overtake guys on other carbon wheels. They're stable. Thanks to great bearings and perfect build-quality, the wheels were true and properly tensioned right out of the box. Even at 55mph, the wheels feel rock-solid and allow me to concentrate on the road in front of me, not steering or braking. You can pay a lot more for wheels with a tiny bit of aero advantage, but chances are, these are the wheels you're looking for.
