Ergon GA1 Evo Grips
The Ergon GA1 Evo Grips are the choice of Ergon Factory Riders. New features include an increased damping thanks to use of a new compound and greatly reduced weight through use of a stable composite clamp.
I've had a lot of hand cramps with other grips. OURY were my grip of choice until I found these. they conform to your hand, but feel much more secure (and look much better) than the other Ergon grips. They lock on securely too.
First Ergon grips, and I think they are perfect. Provide very good grip (soft rubber) still looks durable too (tubber stays together). I like the locking feature, didn't have to tighten strongly (3Nm) and it doesn't move a bit. My bike is white and blue so I took them blue and they look great. But that was my least concern...
i just go these and have not had a long term use of them yet. but initial thoughts are they are a great grip, feel smooth and comfortable to grab, easy to install and stay locked in place
I have a problem with my hands going numb due to POS Ulnar nerves in 'em I suspect. Platform grips have til this point worked the best for me, but for downhill and technical riding, obviously they don't allow you to get a good enough hold on the bars, so I've gone through easily 10 different sets of 'traditional' styled grips in the last year looking for a pair that actually did what they ALL claim to do-take away the numbness and pain, WITHOUT taking away the feel for the trail. After I thought coming close with a pair of ESI Chunks, I decided to give the GA-1s a shot before I pulled the rip-cord on the search, and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. Like the ESI's, they're ovalized. But UNLIKE the Chunks, you can actually SEE which side of the grip bows out, but in case you're unable to figure it out, they actually TELL you on 'em which side is 'UP'(and also right/left). My first ride with 'em was lacking in rocks, ruts, roots, jumps, and bumps, but nevertheless I could tell straight away they were gonna do a better job than the ESI's. Just HOW much better they are then the Chunky's would be revealed when I did my weekend downhill/technical riding. The trails/chutes I speak of started life with rock patches throughout, but now thanks to the severe lack of moisture we've had, there's more exposed rock than actual dirt on 'em so they've become the poster-children for arm-pump, so this past Saturday was the first time I was able to put the GA-1s to the REAL test, and I can say unequivocally they DELIVERED in SPADES! They sucked up the harshness and vibration, yet somehow didn't mute the feel and feedback that's uber critical for traction and threshold braking. To say these thing blew me away is a gross understatement. I'm not typically one to spout off about products I own or have tried, but I'm gonna this one time. I don't care what grips you have. Replace 'em with these things, NOW! Then thank me.:-)
I changed from ESI silicon grips to these grips after reading a review on them. I really like the feel of them and I like that my palms don't get fatigued like they did with the ESIs. They are very grippy and super easy to install. The quality (materials, workmanship, design, etc.) and the instructions are both very good. I don't think I will ever go back to using a grip that does not have a clamp on feature.
Been using these for about 5 years now. Love them!
