When Fox reformulates its fork oil, you would think something was wrong with the old stuff. Not the case at all. Fox now has two different fluids in its forks: Red for all dampers, and Gold for lubricating stanchions, wipers, foam rings, etc. The new Gold fluid is being used by Fox for lower leg bath oil on all of their current forks (except open bath forks). It's 20-weight viscosity stays put better than the Red (the damper oil), making it perfect for the dust wipers and foam rings.
We carry an extensive selection of Fox products, from tools and maintenance products to their world class 40 downhill fork.Due to manufacturer restrictions we can only ship this item to US addresses
I think it pays to use the manufacturers suggested products - especially when the fork has used this since it's birth. Good product - a bit pricey - but it's Fox, did you really expect anything different?!
I bought the Fox 10 wt green suspension fluid to rebuild two of my Fox forks. I suppose I could have saved a few bucks by going to an auto-moto shop and buying an off name brand, but I feel more confident servicing my forks that cost $1000+ combined using this stuff. Plus, the Price Point cost was reasonable and there's enough fluid for several more rebuilds so how much are you really saving? My old suspension fluid came out in good shape, which is probably more of a statement of my seals, but the fluid help up well.
