Giro Gauge Mountain Shoe 2012
Race-worthy performance with the durability and comfort needed for off-road adventure. The Gauge features an exclusive Easton, EC70 carbon composite sole that delivers optimal power to the pedals, with a reinforced microfiber upper that is supple, yet durable enough to be worn everyday on the trails. Fit adjustment is made with a secure, micro-ratcheting buckle and two wide, offset straps that provide a snug, comfortable fit. The aggressively-lugged, dual-density outsole offers excellent traction in the mud and dirt, and will also accept toe spikes for winter riding and 'cross racing.
I've had these shoes for about a year and consider myself for be an intermediate/advanced rider. These a great shoes and a good value too. Giro's interchangeable arch support is pretty solid and helps to give a good fit. They run true to size. These shoes offer a good fit and performance, but forget about doing any hike-a-bike sections with these suckers on. Sure, it's possible, but it's not fun. However, these are carbon composite shoes, can't expect a comfy walker. Great shoe if you can go a whole ride without having to walk your up or down obstacles.
