Giro Privateer HV Mountain Shoe

The Privateer HV offers the same performance of the standard Privateer model, but tailored to high volume and extra-wide feet. The supple microfiber upper is matched with a stiff DuPont Zytel nylon outsole that rivals the performance of premium composite outsoles, while offering greater fatigue resistance than traditional nylon outsoles.

Aggressive, dual-density lugs give excellent traction in dirt and mud, and a supportive EVA footbed with Aegis anti-microbial treatment enhances comfort and fit, which is adjustable via the classic combination of a micro-ratcheting buckle and two straps.

  • High-quality breathable microfiber upper
  • Strong and secure ratcheting buckle closure (replaceable)
  • DuPont Zytel nylon outsole provides plenty of stiff comfort and fatigue resistance
  • Molded EVA footbed with Aegis anti-microbial footbed with medium arch support
  • Accommodates steel toe spikes

Not really wide - Aug 12, 2015

San Diego, CA

I wear a size 12 EEE in both New Balance and Asics running shoes. I ordered the Privateer HV size 46. While the length was fine with my big tow about 1/2" from the end of the shoe, the width was quite narrow such that I could not even attach the velcro straps over my foot. My stock width Specialized shoes fit better. These look like very nice shoes, they just aren't wide.

Comfortable! - Apr 11, 2015

These are really comfortable shoes. I wear them mountain biking and commuting. I used to keep them on at work sometimes before they got too funky from mountain biking. They have excellent grip on dirt, and just okay grip on wet rock/wood. The material has been very durable over 2 years of consistent riding. They did stretch out a little bit after 2 weeks so I have to cinch all of the straps down fully. I would size down a half if I could do it over again. Would buy again.

I have had these now for two years and give them 5 out of 5 stars for fit, durability and performance. Almost 2 lbs lighter than my previous shoes. Wonderful grip when having to hike up steep climbs.
