Greenfield Stabilizer Rear Mount Kickstand
Stabilizer is great for off-road or mountain bikes. It comes complete with an extra wide rubber foot for superior stability, and won't interfere with pedal action or rear derailleur cables. This is the stand of choice by law enforcement bike patrols throughout the U.S. Fits tube sizes up to 7/8" in diameter.
Fitting a kickstand can be really tough. I got this one to fit on my Surly Karate Monkey by filing the inner plate down to clear my disc rotor. If you have a strut between your chain stay and seat stay near the axle, you can pretty much count this out as an option. Be prepared for some creative installation requirements. Wrap your stays with scraps cut from an old tube to protect your paint before you bolt it on. Be prepared to cut the bolt ends off with a Dremel, too. I love this style of kickstand because you can roll the bike backwards without kicking the stand up. A BB-mounted kickstand will give you one full revolution of the pedals before the cranks get jammed on the kickstand. Since most weight on the bike tends to be mounted on the back as well, having the stand right below the weight creates a better balance.
6 out of 5 if it were possible because they are well designed, well made, light weight, stiff, strong, don't corrode, easy to deploy, stay tucked when stowed, and give improved stability when parking.
I purchased this for my wife's bike, as a traditional kick would not fit due to cable routing. It was easy to install and easy to use. It has directions to cut the stand if necessary. I did not need to cut it and my wife's bike is a 15" frame that is low to the ground. The stand works great.
