Hayes V-Cut Disc Brake Rotor
The Hayes Disc Brake Rotor V6 /V7/ V8 is Hayes' lightest rotor at 119g. V cut design has more power and increased pad contact area. Whether your into XC, trail, all mountain, DH or freeriding, the Hayes V cut has a rotor to fit your needs.
does the job, works,... nothing spectacular
Thinking back since I bought this V-cut Hayes brake rotor in 2009 from Price Point, it brings me to a conclusion that this product is one of the best if not the best. To this day I have gone through 5 sets of brake pads . The rotor has not worn much (measured with caliper) and has not warped. I ride at a steady twice a week routine for about 20 miles each on dirt. And the product still keeps going. I would recommend this product.
I've used 6" and 8" of these and the 8" has more power but there is more brake noise and sometimes the adapter to get upto 8" moves and it is not great.
I like this rotor because it gives me more braking power and control of my front wheel. Can't beat the price.
Used these rotors on various bikes at various times. First encounter was a 203mm to go with a brand new set of Shimano SLX brakes. Although a bit heavy, and came warped, they were easy to true up and provide solid braking power with minimal noise and don't wear pads down too quickly. They do come out of true easily, but are easily straightened back up. Although with the shimano SLX brakes, they make an annoying buzzing noise due to the fit not being exact, but this had had no adverse effects on braking performance. I have also used these with Avid BB7 brakes, albeit in the smaller 160 and 180mm sizes, where they worked equally well, and did not make any buzzing noises! These are also a great choice for use with Avid hydraulic brakes to kill the dreaded TURKEY WARBLE that they make! A great buy!
these are great roters i use them with my hayes strocker trail work well in dry and wet would recomend these to anyone....
These came stock on a Price Point bike build and they are performing very well mated to a Hayes Stroker Ryde system. I will run these down but will go with a full Shimano XT later on.
i've been heavily using a 6" set of rotors since 2006 and they still have life left ,granted they have become slightly warped. just replaced them with a 7 and 8" rotor, these are thick. I expect they will last just as long, great value for the price
"HOLY CRAP! How big is that front rotor?" I don't mind the comments, the weird looks, or the "compensating" comments having an 8" front rotor brings. This has massive stopping power, great modulation for those times when scrubbing just a bit of speed is necessary, and has performed flawlessly since I installed it. If you do any sort of downhill riding, or prefer to bomb down every hill you come upon while riding XC, having good stopping power is a must. This rotor will give you just that, especially when coupled with decent pads.
a bit heavy but very durable. haven't had heat problems at the speeds I ride. at faster speeds, they may heat up
Awesome rotors, ran them with the strokers. Once broken in these rotors along with the matching hayes ryde brakes had more then enough stopping power to stop me, and at 265#, thats an incredible feat by itself. But i was pleasantly surprised to find how awesome these rotors preformed for the price, at price point prices- you cant beat them.
Look sweet, stop great. 203mm was a little warped but did not affect performance.
Purchased the 200 mm to replace a 180 mm. Pleased with the difference in stopping power, they just need to be broken-in like any other rotor.
Quite a while back I purchased a Hayes V7 rotor for my rear wheel and I loved it! Recently I decided to upgrade to an 8 inch rotor in the front, so I immediately chose Hayes V8. It's a great looking rotor with a very sleek, well cut design. Paired with an Avid Elixir one, it packs quite a punch on the trail, but keeps the same modulation of a 160m rotor. Handles heat very well and performs exceptionally in the rain. Great rotor for a great price!
Matched these on mavic crosstrail rims and wrapped them in Hayes Prime Pro calipers. They all fit together nicely and the rotors are super light with plenty of braking surface for the pads to engage.
