This little gizmo quickly adapts Mavic 15mm front wheels for use with a fork that takes a traditional 9mm quick release wheel.
Granted reading the above sentence may sound a little silly but think of it this way. If you've got a new bike with a 15mm fork and you've got an old school ride in your stable that you'd love to pull out every once in a while if only it had a good set of wheels, this adapter will allow you to run one wheelset across two different platforms.
There, we just saved you a small fortune by not having to buy two sets of wheels. And we'll also throw in a skewer to make things even easier.
Due to manufacturer restrictions we can only ship this item within the U.S.
I just received these so I cannot comment on their durability (although other posters seem to have no issues with product failure). I used these to convert a Giant Tracker hub 15mm TA that came on the stock wheelset for 2011 Giant XTC. These should work on any 15mm TA as they are simply plugs that go into the existing end caps and do not replace any hub specific parts. Mine slid right in without any grease or hammering and although they add about 1mm to the 100mm standard (due to the lip which keeps the plug from sliding all the way into the hole), the wheel slid into my fork as easily as the original wheel. Buy these without hesitation if you need to do this conversion and a hub specific part isn't available.
Got these to adapt my 15mm X9 axle to my 9mm dropout, worked great! They seem to fit more than just mavic wheels.
Got these very fast did the job very happy!
I have an old Park Home truing stand that will only take a 9mm skewer. Now that I have a 15mm thru axle I had no way to true my front wheel. This was a great and inexpensive way to adapt my wheels so I can use my stand. Easy and simle!
These do work for Crossrides. Bought them based on reviews from other riders on MTB forum. First off, lubricate them to ease installation. The right slides right in. The left requires a tap in, I used a wood 2x4- 8" L with the right side on a vinyl floor. Make sure the rubber sealing ring is not bound. I had a 2012 15mm 29er front wheel and works great. I think some are returning them because the fit on the one side is extremely tight while the other side slips right in. Just have to give it some help. I have had zero issues with my Crossrides. Order away.
I bent a rim on the stock wheelset horribly wrong. Bought a new wheelset (Giant with the secret DT Swiss Internals! ;) and it happened to be 15mm in the front. Did some research and found that these adapters plugged right into my front hub. No noises, no friction, no problems. Highly recommend.
I used this adapter on my new 15mm Shimano wheel. Works like a charm. This kit also comes with a skewer even though it is not mentioned in the description. This kit will save me the headache down the road when I upgrade to a 15mm fork.
Worked like a charm on my EA70XC 29er front wheel. Applied a little grease and tapped them in with a rubber mallet, took just one light twack per side! It doesn't mention in the description, but mine came with a Mavic front quick release!
Works great for using a roof mounted wheel fork if you want to place your thru axle wheels on the roof. Pop these in with an old skewer and you are good to go.
This is the only online shop where I can find these at the time and for the right price, so I got them, good job. This item has "Mavic" quality.
