I've been riding since about 1990, and these are my favorite tires. They have great volume for 2.25. I weigh about 150 and I run only about 20 lbs with tubes, and no problems. In northern New England these tires hold well on dirt, roots, and rocks, wet or dry. One of the best values in tires IMHO.

Best All Around Tire Trail Riding - Apr 10, 2014

I have been mountain biking since the 80's and have tried a ton of tires. The Ardent is my pick for the front. I live in the San Francisco South Bay Area so the Santa Cruz Mountain Trails are my playground. I also ride Northstar and Downieville a few times every year. This tires can handle every type of terrain thrown at it. It climbs well and descends with precision. The side tread grips and grabs perfectly through corners. Just head down and don't be afraid to lean through your turns; once you reach the right degree the tire will grab and roll through.
