Just what I needed - Jun 17, 2014

BAKERSFIELD, CA

I searched high and low for a tire that fit my requirements of: cross country-ish, medium sized knobs, continuous knobs (substantial but not huge) on the edge and no big areas void of knobs. I'd place this somewhere between Schwalbe's Racing Ralph and Knobby Nics. The 2.25 size is just right for my local venues. The ad copy suggests DH and Mountain which I think would be more towards the offered 2.4 size. I currently have it on the front and rear, I know some riders like to mix and match, as do I, but I see no reason to do so at this point. I ride this on "loose over hard" with good (over)-confidence. This was a really good price and coupled with the usual stellar Price Point service. Also, I am glad to support Maxxis as they have been very generous with support of our local racing and event scene. So there I go, plowing an acre of land to plant one tree but you get the point; good tire!

My favorite tire - Jun 12, 2014

FORT COLLINS, CO

They deliver great traction in most conditions, corner great and they are also super durable. The only downside is that they are a bit heavy, but I have mine on a single speed so it is not as much of an issue. Overall I think these are a good all around tire and will serve you well.

Great Tire - Jun 06, 2014

Great tire for New England with all the rocks and roots. I ride with a Maxxis Ardent 29x2.4 on the front and this on the rear. They compliment each other nicely.

Super Grippy - Apr 25, 2014

REDWOOD CITY, CA

I love these tires! I have Ardents on both of my bikes and I think they're great. I live in an area where we have loose, gravel covered trails as well as tacky, loamy trails with baby head sized rock gardens. These tires work beautifully everywhere. If you have the room the 2.4's provide a smoother ride, but the 2.25's are the next best thing. Seal up easily to run tubeless, fast rolling and tread that lasts!

Shred corners and berms with this tire on the front. Pairs really well with the Maxxis Ikon on the rear for all around XC riding. Seals up easy for running tubeless.

I have had this tire for a few months now, it was originally installed with a tube however I recently went tubeless and it seated without any issues and is maintaining pressure perfectly.

I'm sold on Maxxis - Jul 04, 2013

I run the ardent on the front of both of my mtn bikes. Rolls well and has great cornering grip. I run the ignitor on the back and that combo works great for our local trails, and should work pretty well for most terrain.

Great for trail rides. - May 30, 2013

This tire is amazing in varying conditions. I use it tubeless on an inferno 23 front, and anything from Loose hardpack to mud, the Ardent handles well. It is really grippy allowing you to get good cornering. Although it isn't fast rolling it bites well and corners well. It's great for trail use where you want your bike to handle every condition well.

Perfect for most conditions - May 14, 2013

FRANKFORT, IL

I run this tire as a rear, and the Ardent 2.4 EXO as a front on my Black Flag rims. Are they the fastest tires on the market? No. Are they going to give you grip and control in really deep mud? No. But, if you find your riding conditions vary from loose and wet to dry, this tire will more than get you through the day. There's enough depth on the side knobs that you can lean ridiculously into the turns, and the center tread is a good compromise for rolling resistance and grip. These tires sealed up first time with Stans, and that was with a floor pump. I haven't had to mess with them since. If you're interested in a tire that will get you through pretty much everything you'll encounter, get these.
