An aggressive tread in high-volume casing, designed with great traction in mind. The Ardent doesn't forget the racer with large block-style side knobs offering numerous edges for high-speed cornering. The center tread, while ideal for braking and accelerating traction, also features ramped knobs to minimize rolling resistance. With a wide variety of size offerings, the Ardent caters to every mountain bikers needs.
Having too much or too little air pressure in your tire is not a good thing. Check your pressure often using a pressure gauge.
Good volume for a 2.4" tire. Knob pattern is good with the following caveat: there is an intermediate point where you are just starting to lean your bike over where the knobs become pretty sparse and it feels like you are losing traction. But if you lean a little more, the side knobs kick in and all is good. It just took a little getting used to. So far wearing very well (~200 miles). Running mid 20's PSI tubeless (I'm ~200# geared up). Very good tire.
Love this tire on the front! Does everything very well. Not the lightest but rolls well and takes a beating.
I promised myself I wouldn't buy another front tire until I wore this one out. It's going on 3 years now and showing the wear but still going strong. Thousands of miles in Socal and So AZ, including the rugged AZ Trail. This tire has saved me many times due to it's ability to avoid front end washout in soft and technical terrain. I've run the sealant dry from neglect and it still holds air like a champ. Best value for your money and good crash insurance. If you like to change tires often, don't get this one.
I ride mostly sandy trails here in northern MI. I opted for a more stout wider taller tire. This fits the bill. Seals up easily looks good and I don't slip and slide in the turns. I use this as my front tire.
Hands down best front tire I've ever run! This tire is for everyone, except maybe the weight weenies, but they don't deserve a tire this good. The first one lasted through two years and thousands of miles of rocks before it finally died. The EXO sidewalls are the real deal and are tougher than a $5 diner steak. Mine is setup tubeless on a Flow rim and I routinely ran pressures below 20 psi. It's like adding another inch of travel to your fork. For some reason the Ardents seat so well and are so durable that the Stan's will last several months longer in them than in other tires I've tried. An Ardent is not Kenda Small Block 8 or Geax AKA fast, but blows every similar tire like the Nevegal or Rampage out of the water.
Put this on the front of my hardtail, looking for the same riding feel/characteristics as a Nevegal but with bigger volume. With an ArchEX it's a great combo in SoCal, wide, planted, supple. The last part is why i like it better than the Kenda in front. Better feel. Tried briefly on the back, no way it's better than the Nevegal. Less of everything, especially braking.
Good medium traction all condition tire. Works really well as a rear tire with something even meatier up front. I would recommend this tire as an all purpose tire with reasonably low rolling resistance.
Best rubber i've ever ridden. Handles corners with confidence and doesn't have much in the way of rolling resistance. Thanks PricePoint!!!
Really good XC / AM tire!
