PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Maxxis Detonator Kevlar Road Tire

The Maxxis Detonator, with its dual compound tread pattern, provides a durable training tire with a race pedigree. Softer silica compound on the outer edges of the tire allows for great traction in a variety of road conditions. The Detonator is durable enough to provide plenty of winter miles, yet supple and grippy enough to race on in the summer.

  • "M-shaped" grooved tread pattern
  • Silkworm protection

Cool colors and grip - Jun 17, 2014

The colorways this tire comes in are cool. They also grip well. However, they aren't the most durable/sturdy, I managed to rip the bead in my rear taking a corner (no crash).

Last forever - Apr 23, 2014

I have been using these tires for about 4 years now and love them. They have better than average feel on the road, good corning grip, etc. but where they really shine is on puncture resistance. I put about 3500-4000 on each tire before replacing, and usually only have 1-2 flats during that time. The only time I had to replace them early was when I went through a glass patch on the road that was unavoidable.

Great mileage - Apr 23, 2014

I usually get ~2500 miles out of these--so for the price, they're great. Not the best ride quality, but they grip well and wear above average. I've had a couple tires develop a crack in between the two rubber types (along the seam where the hard/soft rubber connects). This never caused any flats but it is a little disconcerting. Otherwise, solid tire for the price.
