Surprisingly grippy - Jun 10, 2014

LOS ALTOS, CA

Fast rolling and very grippy (guess 29er wheels help that). I use this on a trail bike carbon wheelset for fast and grippy flow. Obviously not a shredding front tire, but plenty of grip for XC stuff. Even for AM, it can handle it's duty as a rear tire.

A fast rolling tire, with good grip with the correct tire pressure, great for southern California trails, I use 27 psi rear, 25 psi front.

Reliable tire for every kind of race - Jun 06, 2014

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA

I've bought 5 Maxxis Ikon tires in the past two years. They are my all time favorite on both my hard tail and my full suspension bikes. I race a lot of XC and like the convenience of tubeless. So naturally I choose the protection of their 3C and EXO. The only time I've had to run in was when, like a dummy, I decided to race with only 20 pounds pressure in my front wheel. Bent my rim. FYI that's a bad idea. Once the rim was fixed I put the very same tire on with some Stan's in it and finished the season. Love these tires!

One Word Summary - Jun 06, 2014

SOUTHERN PINES, NC

These have become my go-to race tires on both of my 29rs. One word summary: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Perfect combination of rolling well, and good "hook-up" on cornering in all but very muddy conditions. Love them so much that between races, I take them off and run beat up old Xmarks to train on. Love 'em. R

Great fast rolling all around tire - Apr 30, 2014

Columbus, OH

I've rode/raced this tire on most conditions and it handles really well. I have it set up tubeless on the rear with an ardent on the front. I definitely recommend this to anyone considering a great all around tire.

Best Tire Around - Apr 30, 2014

I have rode on plenty of other brands and these by far are the best for my local trails. They handle the loose stuff with ease and holds to the ground around the tightest of corners.

EXO 3C Maxxspeed - Apr 24, 2014

1 2 3 4

Carolina, PR

I've been using this tire for a year now and I have to say it has the best all around grip than any other I have used before. It is lightweight and does not hesitate when accelerating. The only downside it has is that its casing is not the most durable. One of them had to run with low pressure during a race and then no longer served and the other I've had 2 occasions where the casing is broken and I had to put a patch to continue using it. I think that for the price of rubber, could improve the quality of casing.

solid rubber - Apr 23, 2014

BIG LAKE, MN

This tire is great for a fast rolling tread pattern. I bought it because of the exo skin that is required for riding out in the Moab area due to the pinch flat possibilities (endless). The knobs are fairly low profile but good for the sand/rock riding.

Best hard pack tire out there! - Apr 23, 2014

1 2 3 4 5
5 out of 5 stars
Pleasant Hill, CA

Both my son and I have found Ikons to be the best hard pack tires out there due to their grip and light weight. My son uses them for racing and I use for general riding. I have found they wear I bit better then avg. as long as they are used off-road. Wear really seems to speed up if they are used on pavement, thankfully I'm only a short ride from home to dirt in my usual ride. Use tubeless with Stan's.

Extremely fast - Apr 17, 2014

1 2 3 4 5
5 out of 5 stars
Pollock Pines, CA

These are run mainly on dry hardpack so a lot of tread isn't necessary. I put these on a new 29er build after only using blocky 26" tires and couldn't believe how fast they roll-- these are insanely quick. Braking and cornering traction is good, but they do get a little skittery on steep climbs out of the saddle. Tough to set up initially tubeless, but once I got them sealed they've only lost about 5 psi a month and no Stan's sidewall seepage.

Maxxis EXO Version - Apr 15, 2014

1 2 3 4
4 out of 5 stars
Orland park, IL

Great lightweight tire used for training and racing. Ran tubeless with Stan's. Easy to mount (tubeless) on rim, but lots of leaks on sidewall for first week. I always ran slightly higher pressure with this tire because cornering can get a little squishy due to sidewall strength. Tread wear was "average" in my opinion. I would purchase again.

Fast rolling rear tire, I opted to run an Ardent Race up front for more grip in the turns.

ok - Apr 08, 2014

1 2 3
3 out of 5 stars
Fort Collins, CO

Like others have mentioned this tire has a low rolling resistance and was great for a while but as the season wore on the tire's already slim treads are basicly gone after one race season.i know that others on my circuit chance tires more often than I do its just that I expected more from it. Likewise as previously mentioned its not the best in lose gravel or mud however it is very well suited for hard pack.

Ikon EXC - Apr 03, 2014

Really good tire, it was my favorite front tire for a long time although I have switched to the Schwalbe Rocket Ron and I think it out performs the Ikon in every category except the Ikon may have a very small edge in rolling resistance

Tough fast rollers - Apr 02, 2014

1 2 3 4 5
5 out of 5 stars
Atlanta, GA

I read the reviews on these tires and picked up a set. I really like them. They are fast rollers. They wear very slowly (mix of asphalt, gravel, mud, leaves and muck, and grass) in my riding conditions. They are not grippy in loose conditions, but they held on enough to finesse my way through the muck. I expected a fast roller, but was not expecting great wear as well.

MAXXIS -Accept No Substitute! - Sep 10, 2013

I'm only two weeks into these tires...bought them as "race only" tire, but in riding the train-up, "get used to how they hook" period...I'M HOOKED! Light, insanely fast-rolling, stour sidewalls. NO OTHER WORDS NECESSARY! Cheers, R

Great as a rear tire. - May 24, 2013

1 2 3 4 5

Detroit, MI

This tire set up tubeless pretty easily. Good climbing grip in the rear when run tubeless at correct pressure. Rolls fast. Good in the front in tacky situations, but it gets a bit sketchy cornering in loose or slick conditions. I switched my front out for a chunkier tire.
