NINER TECHNOLOGY

Because the lower swingarm linkage is located underneath the bottom bracket, chain torque in any chainring effectively neutralizes the unwanted forces that degrade power transfer to the rear wheel.

Niner believes that your alloy bike should incorporate all of the same high end features and technologies as any top of the line carbon bike. Niner uses the most current alloy shaping technology.

The basic concept of the larger diameter is simple: it will keep your wheels on top of oncoming obstacles. Rather than riding IN the terrain, you'll be riding ABOVE it, gaining more control and stability on even the roughest trails.

Showing Questions 1-2 of 2

Q: Does the bottom bracket need to be chased before installing the bottom bracket and crank?

A: No you will not need to re tap the BB threads, just be sure to use grease.

Q: What model year is this frame?

A: Great question! will be +2012 & keep in mind that Niner does not have model years although they would call this specific frame-build the SMU model (Special Makeup) The differences with the SMU model would be the rear shock which was improved by using the Rockshox Monarch which is designed for mid-high travel improving the characteristics of the bike overall. Niner chooses to update models when there is a reason to do so to improve/use new technology & take advantage of new material/construction techniques. I setup this frame w/ '13 Reba fork, ROL wheels, X9 groupo and roll on WTB Wolverines. There is nothing this bike cant do including some AM trails due to its spot on geometry. Although the color is a little bright this bike is a keeper and you cant beat the price thanks to PP.

Jet 9 - Fun and Capable Ride - Apr 15, 2014

Fun bike! Have owned several FS 29ers and picked this frame up to replace a Spearfish. Fully active suspension that pedals incredibly well. Stays active under braking and soaks up rough trails and roots without getting snagged. Stay in the saddle and keep pedaling. Was a little hesitant with only 3" travel but the bike soaks up the rough stuff better than I thought it would. Laterally stiff frame is a great climber - resists pedal induced bob while keeping the rear wheel planted to the trail. Really good on technical/rocky/rooty climbs. Monarch shock works well - set the air pressure to the proper sag and just ride. Includes lockout lever that works well for the ride to the trail head. Shock seems to be well matched to the frame design. Should be a great endurance race/trail bike. Looking forward to many long rides!

Heck of a deal - Apr 13, 2014

I bought this as my first full-suspension xc bike. It replaced my Specialized Hardrock and I couldn't be happier. My Specialized was a large because the salesperson who sold it to me couldn't have cared less about properly fitting me to the right size. After much research I decided to order the medium. I'm 5'10" and approx. 180lbs. After my initial ride of approx. 10 miles I am glad I went with the medium. It is definitely a lot snappier in the corners and in tight technical situations. All of my components from my Specialized switched right over to the Niner. The Niner FS is just as light if not lighter than my Specialized hardtail. Can't wait to see how juicy this bike is going to feel after the initial break-in period. Overall, first impressions are very good and I'm very satisfied with my decision to grab this great deal.

Great frame - Feb 09, 2014

I wanted a full suspension bike after enjoying my sette razzo for a couple of years. With this frame only a few parts wouldn't switch over from my razzo. The new bike is a blast. It handles well, is balanced, and the 80mm of travel doesn't seem like too little. Almost feels bottomless unless your use to a lot more travel. Nice amount for hammering in or out of the saddle. It is a little heavy in comparison to the razzo. (razzo is a light frame.) But you don't feel the weight at all when riding. Just when hike a biking. Definitely happy with this frame.
