NiteRider understand lights are an integral part of your daily commute. Using a light can mean the difference between being seen or not by automobile drivers. Many of the "entry level" commuter lights are nothing more than "be seen" lights. Your overall safety and visibility should not be limited by your budget, that's why they created the Mako Series. The Mako line now offers five models and up to 200 lumens, not only allowing the cyclist to be seen, but allowing the cyclist to see as well. The Mako line is easy on the wallet and operates on 2 AA batteries (included). For 2013, NiteRider has introduced the new Mako USB rechargeable light for those who want to forgo changing batteries.
I bought this six months ago and it was at a promo price. I can say that it's been really worth it. Brightness level is good, I sometimes ride at night and it's bright enough to see 20-30 feet away. A full charge lasts over an hour when set on high and almost 2 hours on low. Flashing mode plus the red flash on the sides gives me confidence that I can well be seen. My only complaint is the mounting. It loosens up after a while. I guess I just have to reinforce it with a tape.
This is a great headlight, the power charger it's wonderful, no problem with the light, the only problem its the bracelet system it's unreliable if you have a rude trail
I love this light! I commute on my bike and I'm sure this has saved my life more than once. Easy to use and 3 light modes is great (high, low and blink). Not bright enough to be your only light for night commutes. I pair it with another 300 lumen light and it is perfect for the night time commutes. I have not used this offroad or on trails.
