I began mountain biking 18 years ago and I've never worn knee guards, but took a pretty hairy spill two weeks ago that still has me breathing sighs of relief that I came out of it virtually unscathed (I should REALLY have broken something). Having learned too many lessons the hard way by pushing my luck, age has finally taught me otherwise so I purchased these due to the sale price. I've ridden them on three rides now, 40+ miles on pretty technical climbs and butt puckering descents in the desert and feel I can give an earned thumbs up with legitimate review. They're a LOT bulkier than the description leads one to believe, and like another reviewer mentioned, also not as described with removable armor. Even with the misleading information, these seem extremely well crafted and designed, and even with as bulky as they are, they're not heavy, very comfortable, and I never really noticed wearing them except for the sweaty/clammy feeling after a few miles, but there's no way around that and didn't cause any real discomfort. These are definitely a recommended buy and seem to be worth the price without the discount.
I never liked wearing knee pads, and figured I would give these a try for the low price. They are really comfy, and I hardly notice them on when riding. Lightweight and offer good protection when you meet the ground unexpectedly.
First off these are pretty bulky..your definitely not going to fit these under your skinny jeans or any jeans as it states in the description. It also says you can remove the plastic shell but you cant. It's completely stitched up. Would send them back but they were only $15 so its not really worth paying for shipping. They also run large. Mine also look a little different than the one in the picture so maybe they just sent the wrong ones. Price point let me down this time.
