Park Tool GSC-1 Gear Cleaning BrushPark GSC-1 Gear Cleaning Brush - Bike Specific Cleaning Tool
It works well for it's intended purpose. If you need a tool to clean your gears then look no further.
This thing works so well. I had trouble cleaning out my gears for awhile. Finally it started to build up and the only thing that seemed to removed the grime was a pocket screw driver. It worked to get around all the gears but it took way to long and I did not want to spend all that time cleaning my bike. I would prefer to be riding it. I found this product from Park Tool and decided it was worth a shot. Get a little degreaser on the gear set and let it sit. Go in there a couple minutes later with this special tool and it removes the mud and grease that has been packed into the cassette. The shifting and pedaling are noticeably smoother after cleaning the gears and chain. I highly recommend this product to anyone.
I bought this because it was a Park so it must be good, right? Well not completely right, it only lasted one season which is why I rated it just 1 star. I've purchased cheap versions of this for $3 to $4 and those lasted several seasons and work just as well. So just 1 star due to it being way overpriced and short lived.
What a great tool! I cant believe I've been riding for a decade and this is the first time I've had this tool. Gets into the tough spots on my 10 sp. cassette. The bristles will be worn out after 1 season.
If you've got a cruddy, grungy, disgusting bunch of gears, then this thing, coupled with some degreaser, is one of the best ways to go. Unless you have a parts washer of course! The teeth on the back of the handle break up and pull out the dried-on gunk pretty well, but you do have to wipe it off pretty often. The brush is okay at best. It's good for light scrubbing, but it gets mangled and messed up pretty quickly.
If your short on time but want to get alot of grime out this tool is great. No tool is better for getting rid of muck out of your cassete plus rear mech.
