While this type of master link doesn't require a traditional chain tool, over time, dirt and corrosion can make it difficult to separate by hand. MLP-1 Master Link Pliers make removal and replacement of these master links quick and effortless. To use, squeeze side plates together, insert the specially sized jaws into the master link and squeeze the handles.

This tool is great for removing master links definitely makes it much easier. I would wish that it was more portable for when your out on trails because that is where you need it most but it also is fine tool that makes life a lot easier.
