Pedros Ice Wax 2.0 Chain LubeIce Wax 2.0- The same great Pedro's Ice Wax performance now made with a biodegradable, natural wax base. Our long-lasting barrier coat is the cleanest lube on the market. Formulated to work well in all conditions. Apply liberally onto a clean chain. Wipe excess. Allow time to dry before riding. Repeat as needed.
I fell in love with the old formula, worked great for where I lived at the time (northern Colorado). Trails were typically dry but afternoon rain could leave puddles and some wet hero dirt areas. I also made the occasional trip to Fruita and this lube worked great. But, then Pedros changed the formula right when I bought a giant bottle. Not as impressed now. It clumps up and coats everyting (cassette, chain, chain rings) and never fails to leave me with a chain ring tattoo. I now mainly use it in the winter on the trainer bike just to use it up. Works well though in wet, but it gets a bit messy after a while. It's also really thick now, when before it was a lot thinner.
I really liked the original ice wax. It kept my chain clean and the dirt just fell off. With this lube the dirt turns into sticky clumps instead of dry clumps. I like that it is a thicker wax based lube but I'll be trying something different next time.
This is the best wax-based lube out there. It even works in wet conditions if you need it to. Easy application and no mess. I even dig the smell (is that wierd?)
Pedro's Ice Wax is the best lubricant I've used in dry, extremely, dusty conditions in deep South Texas. Stays on, does not attract dust and keeps chain in great condition overall.
