Q: Should I use a triple front derailleur because of the bashguard ring?
A: Nope! The front derailleur is used for moving the chain off one chainring and onto another, since you are only using two chain rings you only need the 2x derailleur.
This is my first 2x9 setup. Install was a breeze. No issues at all w/ dropping chain. No issues at all period. What I really like is I can take the bash guard off, put a big ring on, adjust my high limit screw and bang back to a 3x9 setup. Haven't needed to as I like the 2x9. But, I got there if needed. Race Face always delivers!
