RaceFace SixC 785mm DH Carbon Riser Bar
Race Face sets another industry benchmark with the re-introduction of SIXC - the world's lightest and strongest carbon DH Race/Light FR crank and bar. Building on the unprecedented success of our proprietary Optimized Carbon Technology program, SIXC is poised to rewrite the rules in the 6-8 inch travel bike world. SIXC (the C is silent, eh!) represents the culmination of years of Race Face engineering in both carbon and all mountain products. Race Face has created a crank and bar for the aggressive rider who demands the ultimate in performance. Strong enough for DH racing or light freeriding, yet feathery enough to propel you past the lycra set, SIXC is the product many epic riders have been waiting for.
What's not to like; great ergos with carbon lightness. Bars are STIFF, was evident from the first ride from the Easton Havoc carbon 750mm I had on the bike.
Love these bars, great quality, looks, and feel. Have Carbon Easton bars on my other bike and there no match for these. Wish someone would trade me...
Had to cut them down just a little but really like these bars.
I am a big fan of the trend of running wide bars, short stem combination. The increased control and stability is immediately apparent, especially on a rough, technical downhill sections. These replaced a of 725mm width bars on my bike, and I couldn't be happier with the change. I personally have noticed decreased amount of "buzz" through the handlebars, which has translated to, no numbness/tingling in my hands. That alone has been worth the upgrade. If tight trees are an issue for you, they can be cut down a bit, but I would suggest trying them full width for a couple rides. Just for the sake of comparison, I have a pair of easton havoc carbon bars on my other bike, while they have a similar shape and feel(that's a good thing), they are very stiff and don't have the same level of dampening ability these raceface sixc bars have.
Once you try a wider bar, you'll never go back. It may feel odd for the first couple rides (possibly), but there really is something to riding with a wider bar (control and comfort). Make sure you're paying attention to how it fits you; the 785mm may be too wide for your height & reach; this bar has convenient marks to help cut the bar down to a narrower width, precisely. The price is good, width is great and at 220g they were my top choice.
I never have anything but great things to say about the products from this company, and this is no different! I used this bar to replace the stock aluminum bar on my trail bike after it bent. This one has already taken several hard impacts and shows no signs of damage. It is really light for its width and looks great as well. It does also reduce a bit of the vibrations that come through the bars. I will definitely be getting more of these in the future.
