Renthal Lock On Grips Kevlar
If you like the grippiness of tackier feeling softer compound grips but don't like how fast they wear out, Renthal has the answer.
Renthal developed the Kevlar® brand resin compound to offer a superbly tacky feel, with excellent shock absorption qualities. The Kevlar® brand resin content of this compound extends the life of the grip, making this Renthal's most durable grip. Renthal Kevlar® brand resin grips are the most advanced grip compound available. The base material contains millions of randomly aligned Kevlar® brand resin particles. As the grip is used more particles are exposed, so the number of particles at the grip surface increases.
A few people I know got these grips and loved them, so I thought I would try them. So far I have ridden and raced with them and love them. Really comfy and have held up in a few crashes so far. Rad color too!
Bottom line these are a great grip that lack durrability. I really like the grip texture, look and overall diameter, but they are not strong. The end clamp is held on by four intigrated plastic pins. After three rides which included a small crash the end broke off. I have ODI grips that have been through much worse and continue to work.
I bought these grips because I like the idea of lock-ons, but they are a much larger diameter compared to other push ons or thinner slip-ons. While these do lock on securely, provide good grip, and look great, the larger diameter of the grip increases hand fatigue in rough high speed bump sections.
Bought these after reading a review in MBA magazine and thought I'd give them a try. They are sticky and I imagine they would last but after two rides (and one more while waiting for the ODI Rogues for replacement) I took them off. There is no cushion at all in these gripes, my hands went numb all three rides.
