Ritchey P-650b/27.5er Red/White/Blue Frame

Tom Ritchey designed his first mountain bike in 1977. Even back then, Tom knew there had to be an advantage to a "middle" wheel size. It's too bad it took the rest of the cycling world three decades to catch up. A 650b eats bumps as smoothly as a 29er and has the light, responsive feel of 26" wheels. Finally, 650b wheels are here to stay.

The P-650b is a close brother to the P-29er. All new Ritchey frames come with a proprietary forged-and-machined, gram-shaving integrated head tube. Out back, Ritchey gives you forged socket dropouts and new chainstay-mounted rear disc brake mounts to save a few more grams.

Every frame is carefully fine-tuned by Tom, so you know you're getting patriotic excellence.

Well, after noodling the idea around a bit, I decided to purchase a 650B frame. Did some research, and figured that the Ritchey was destined to be my good new friend. Wow, was I right! Built it up over the cold crappy Wisconsin winter, took it out for it's maiden ride on trails a few weeks ago. Wow, it's got a great feel. NOT twitchy, just fluid and smooth through the turns. 100mm rockshox fork brings a bit of smoothness to the ride. For a hardtail, it sure absorbs the trails bumps excellent. I do believe there is a reason Tom Ritchey developed the 650B for pure ride pleasure for someone looking for something a bit of the ordinary from the 29ers. Have 2 other 29ers, and have never been able to overcome the big brothers varsity bike feel of them. (I.e. - Just a bit to big for my short legs.. haha) Very happy with my 650B!
