RockShox Revelation RCT3 DP-Air 150mm 26 Inch QR15 Fork 2013

It doesn't take a psychiatrist to see the Revelation has a serious split-personality disorder. Thanks to an all-new Dual Position Air spring system with 30mm of sag-to-sag, on-the-fly travel adjustment, one minute the Revelation is an ultra-lightweight, lethal trail fork, the next it’s a long-travel cross country fork. This identity crisis is perfect for riders who can’t decide whether they want to be cranking up lung-burning ascents, or blasting down banger descents. Because either way, our lightest trail fork (or heavy-duty cross country fork) fits the bill.

Something good got even better. Rock Shox received so much positive feedback from trail riders out there that we wanted to give something back. Winner of numerous magazine tests, we upgraded Revelation with our new Motion Control DNA system. Now, the stiff and lightweight ultimate trail fork is even smoother and more responsive. And with Dual Position AIr, the uphills are even easier now, too. Add in the new RCT3 - a lockout with three positions - and you can adapt to any terrain: Switch between "Open (with all DNA possibilities), "Threshold" (takes away the big bumps) and "Lockout" for fast rolling on smooth ground.

  • Dual-Position Air (2P-Air): On-the-fly travel adjust between 150>120mm travel via positive/negative air spring system with a single external Schrader valve
  • MotionControl-DNA hydraulic damping with external dual-flow rebound and 3-position compression
  • Threadless, custom butted aluminum steerer and hollow forged 6061-T6 aluminum crown assembly with 32mm stanchions
  • 1-piece magnesium lower legs with Power Bulge lower bushing reinforcement and 15x100mm MaxleLite

Recently I sent my fork back to Fox because the rebound damping was knocking. I read elswhere that they warranty replaced this as the rebound damper on that model CTD is buggy. But they charged me for a rebuild nonetheless. The guy on the phone said that I was running too much air in my fork, even though I set it to the guidelines they recommend and was well under max. But this review is about the Revelation which I had before the Fox. It was lighter, smoother, could be stiffer while still using its full stroke of travel. I think Rock Shox is a better fork and not just for the money. Wish I never swapped it out for Fox 32 Float.
