SRAM's PC-951 is the least expensive chain to feature PowerChain II technology, which increases front and load shifting performance without sacrificing rear shifting precision. With chrome hardened rivet pins developed using the Step2 riveting process, the PC-951 is not only incredibly smooth but extremely strong. It also features the PowerLink closing system, which makes this chain very easy to install and maintain.
Just like the the chain from the factory. Great for my new build. shifts great have been using SRAM chains for years after I had a shimano chain break during a race. THe Gold power link is the best.
Just had to replace a 5 year old PC-951. It's been a great chain and went a LOT of miles. Used primarily dry lube (wax type) with cleanings after every few rides. Excellent chain. I've used the 971 and the 991 as well and couldn't tell the difference shifting with this one. Chain was run on a 2011 Sram 990 cassette, Truvativ aluminum front rings with Shimano LX/XT mix.
This is an excellent chain for the price. Who even cares if it last half as long as an expensive chain because you can buy like 5 of these for as much as one of them costs. The PowerLink technology is really foolproof and super easy for trailside repairs. I wouldn't put a Shimano chain on my bike if you gave one to me.
These non-plated SRAM chains are functionally identical to the PC-971 model, but less shiny. Good price here.
I put my bike through hell. This chain has never required attention other than cleaning. That is all I ask of a chain.
