Delivering light weight, strength and smoothness to your drivetrain. BlackBox racers know that SRAM PowerChains are designed to stand up to the toughest courses and competitors. From the convenient PowerLink connectors that eliminate the need for tools to the GLEITMO lube that protects against dirt and friction, these chains set the standard for durability and reliability.
Sram chains have a reputation for being tough, light and reasonably priced. Take a look at our entire selection of Sram chains here.
I bought this for my full susp. rig set up with skinny slicks, and ride about 75% road and 25% trail. Over 1 year, it has seen a lot of road mileage (not measured exactly, but probably ~1200) and moderate dry dusty off-road conditions. Using Boeshield T9 lube. Still shifts well, has not broken, and has minimal measurable chain stretch (still has a while to go before needing replacement). Nice chain for the price. Would buy again.
This chain wore at reasonable to slightly fast rate, performed as expected given its cost.
I am giving this chain a rating of three stars because the first time I rode with this chain and a brand new rear cassette (PG970) I broke the chain while climbing. This also happened with my other bike's PC991 hollowlink chain. Both times however after replacing the broken links the chains functioned flawlessly and have gone on to ride several hundred miles each.
I like to use SRAM chains over Shimano because I love that power link. It makes taking the chain off so easy, and it comes with the chain.
I've been using these chains now for a while, mainly due to the awesomely great price Price Point has them at. Easy to pick up a few for cheap and have them on hand for when the existing chain decides to give up. I was only able to muster about 370 miles out of my last one, and I swear I was able to get more out of the PC-951 chain I used previously. I'm sure a large part of that was due to riding through a harsh winter, and a couple of early season races. I may need to adopt a new method of cleaning my chains to increase longevity. All told, I'll continue to buy this chain as long as Price Point offers excellent prices on them.
I have always like SRAM chains, especially the quick link. They function great and the middle models offer great value.
This is a great chain. I've used many of them with various drivetrain setups and they always work.
Have been running a SRAM 971 chain for a couple of years now, still no serious sign of stretching. Smooth shifting and no skipping. Low price, works well, can't whip that with a better chain!
nice chain - works not the lightest - but if weight were an issue I'd lose a few pounds myself before making minor chain weight differences an issue
These are decent chains (this half-plated model), and Price Point offers consistently lower prices on these.
The PC-971 chain was a simple and affordable upgrade from my PC 951 chain which was showing some wear. Plenty of miles later and no skipping or binding, even under very heavy force. Not as light as hollow pin chains but very strong.
Very efficient and dependable.
My title says it all. I guess I could add that I like the Powerlink for its ease of installation. I'm using this with a 9 speed XTR group. No problems and I don't notice any extra noise, like some people say about SRAM chains.
This is a great chain. I commute regularly and often in sloppy conditions so the chain get some abuse. This is a reliable chain and I love that the power link is so easy to remove so the chain can get a good deep clean. They are also in expensive enough to change often or keep multiple chain systems to minimize wear...
I was having a tough time keeping my chain quiet on rides, even after lubing. So, I decided it was time to replace the chain with the PC-971 and rear cassette with the PG-970. They work together perfectly! Super smooth shifting, super quiet, and an excellent price from PricePoint!
