The lightest and fastest shifting on the planet with an incredible race pedigree. If you are looking for weight reduction and shifting distinction this is the only choice.
From Extreme Freeriding to the rigors of World Cup XC, the X.0 system's superior 1:1 actuation ratio performs with distinction.
1:1 actuation is simply superior. The very nature of its design makes it this way. For every 1 unit of cable pulled or released, the derailleur moves the same amount. Simple? Yes. Dependable and tolerant? The best. Ease of set-up and adjustment? Easiest. This is why the top athletes in the MTB world prefer SRAM. From the mud infested Cross Country of the Sea Otter Classic, to the rocks and roots of a Fort William World Cup Downhill the 1:1 actuation stays precise and fluid. 1:1 Actuation precision is why you find SRAM on the elite bikes from cross-country flyers to full gravity bombers.
The description argues for the superiority of 1:1 shifting. I respectfully disagree. 2:1 shifting provides an easier touch, requiring less rider input to change a gear. That being said, the cool thing about these grip shifters is that you can dump all your gears at once if you get into that "already in my highest gear, just came around a corner and got surprised by a super steep hill" mode. Good grip shifters would probably have save many people from their first fall with their feet stuck in the pedals while using SPD's for the first time. I don't personally like grip shifters, but if you insist, then these are a very good pair.
Nothing else shifts quicker or sharper. Grips are great, but can wear with glove use. Light and look sweet. Been a GripShift guy since I met a SRAM rep in Chicago back when they were kicking off the brand, and he really sold me on the simplicity and design. These are the pinnacle.
I'm using just the right one at the moment for a 1x9 drive train , paired with an x9 derailleur. They work very well together, much better than any trigger shifters I've used in the past. I can't see the point in using triggers when these are available. They are cheaper, work better, and are less likely to be destroyed in a crash. I'd used a lower end set many years ago and wasn't super impressed. I took a chance on these due to their price for the higher zoot level and good things I'd heard about them. It was a good decision.
For many reasons I am really loving these grip shifters. Like other reviewers, I loved the product when it first came out many years ago, and haven't understood why it's popularity didn't overshadow triggers. My guess is too many lower level versions offered on cheaper rides weakened the image/appeal of grip shift in general. I took off the stock Sram X5 triggers I've had on my Cannondale F4, and the difference has been night and day (also upgraded to X9 drivetrain.) The shifts are quick, accurate, you can dump a bunch in an instant, and combined with new XT hydraulic brakes, they just look really slick and minimal. I feel like I have more control over my bike as my hands are now always in grip mode, all fingers where they really should be. These are on a bike I use for aggressive commuting, but I know from trail experience that these would help me go faster into turns when I need to then make quick shifts without having to do much. Basically these make you think less about shifting, because it becomes so quick and automatic, and I think for me that's the hallmark of a good upgrade. Great deal, loving 'em, and Pricepoint always pleasure to deal with. Thumbs up!
I have been a twist shifter fan since the beginning, back when it was "grip shift". I have had clickers of all sorts and they always fall short compared to twisting. These XO's are the bees knees! Lightweight, smooth adjustable shifting, easy setup, easy maintenance, and less expensive(especially @ PricePoint!). I have a hard time understanding why more riders aren't running this bitchen setup.
Always been a fan of twist shifters. These make even better. Great product and easy upgrade.
Bought these for my winter build. Love these, they they just have a great feel to them. when my Fat bike i will order these again! Great price great value. Thanks
I really like the way these work. The ability to micro adjust the front derailluer is very cool. I liked them (and their light weight) so much that this is my second set. I would have given them 4 stars, but had to replace a pair when it was impossible to replace the shifter cable for the rear. I don't know why, but the cable would not thread through the shifter. They lasted for a couple of years, so no big deal.
Not sure why twist shifters are like the red headed step child of mountain biking but these are awesome. Lightweight, reliable, cheap, shift as fast as you want, never take fingers off your bar or brakes, and absolutey nothing to brake. My only complaint is with the X0 version and the rubber knobs on the very inner most portion. Those hurt my hands and I had to cut them off but I've got over 1000 miles on mine and have no problems and no slop.
I tend to get numb fingers on long rides, and these eliminate the problem. Great price for a great product. They are easy to install and SRAM has easy to read instructions. Wish they came with shorter grips, but switched them out with short ODI clamp-on grips and all is good. Nice feature is that you can fine tune the position of the front derailleur because the front and rear shifters have 9 different index positions.
