SRAM X7 9 Speed Rear Derailleur 2013
SRAM X.7 Rear Derailleurs 2012: Updated design with a slimmer and lighter profile over previous X.7. Di.R.T (Direct Route Technology) for light-effort shifting performance. Compatible with ESP (1:1 ratio) trigger and twist shifters. Aluminum outer / Steel inner links and cages, Grilon composite P-knuckle, steel tension spring, and an alloy B-knuckle with alloy bolt. Hardened pivots, ported 11-tooth pulleys, and a matte alloy finish.
I've been through a lot of different Shimano and Sram derailleurs and this is comparable to higher-end stuff as far a durability. Not the lightest nor most crisp in shifting but for the price would be a great component on mid-range mountain and commuter bikes and an excellent upgrade for low-end bikes.
I have multiple lower end bikes that I have inexperienced teens ride, we have broken a dozen of these and the x5's. They are probably fine if babied, but don't hold up to much abuse. I would prefer low end Shimano over low end Sram. Great marketing, poor performance in my oppinion.
Bought one of these as a replacement on my DH bike last summer and it's still going strong to this day. If you can't justify spending over $100+ on a Deraillure then this little guy will do the trick! Easy to adjust, easy to instal, works and shifts just fine!
Great Value and works great when converting SS to 9-speed. Paired with the X-9 shifter and shifting is crisp. No problems after 1 year.
I've been very happy with this derailleur. It's rock solid. Shifts great. I've had no super expensive derailleur envy.

I wanted an inexpensive and reliable derailleur for my winter 1x9 conversion. This derailleur worked flawlessly though tough conditions.
Seems to shift as good as X9 for less money to me! I've owned a few X9s and they seem to wear fast losing shift performance, this X7 has lasted at least equal if not longer for less money!
This derailleur works fine, until you have the slightest impact on it, then the cage will bend, and it will never shift right again. If you plan on ever falling off your bike, I would go with the x.9 or higher.
I love sram but this derailleur was crap. It worked just fine until the spring in the cage gave out and it provided no chain tension.
Bought this to replace my stock shimano derailleur and the difference is huge! Clean and smooth shifts all throughout the range. A breeze to setup and adjust. For the price you can not beat this derailleur!
This is the first SRAM drivetrain product I've owned. My others have been predominantly Shimano, chain and all. Since I was building a bike from the frame up over the '12 winter, I decided to give the competition a go. I purchased the short cage model presumably to improve shifting, and to avoid collisions w/ low-slung trail matter. I previously had incidents in both areas with Shimano. The incorporated (and now-defunct) Rollymajig design in the cable routing and the 1:1 ratio improves the precision with which the X7 shifts through the gears. I never understood the 2-clicks-per-shift of the Shimano--it's inefficient, and possibly caused the majority of all those mishifts! I haven't had a single fouled shift since dialing in the X7. Its reliable performance on the trail outweighs that of the competition, and the price is well worth it. Hint: wait for the deep winter sales to pick one up! The only bothersome thing I noticed was that the cage doesn't offset/open nearly as much as the Shimano LX does on my F/S, to allow for ease of wheel removal. Maybe it's the short cage, I can't say one way or the other unless I purchase a long cage and experiment. Maybe I will, and put the short café on the F/S. Anyhow, it's spot on!
Came today, took 5 minutes to setup and is smooth as butter. This is the best price online!
I purchased this derailleur to replace the broken X4 that came stock on my bike. It installed quickly, was easy to dial in, and works great. It provides smooth, fast shifts and is a huge improvement over the old X4. Good Deal!
