As Shimano's premier road group, anything stamped with the Dura Ace logo represents the company's highest level of engineering -- designed, tested and manufactured in Japan using the latest technology and most advanced production techniques. Tested and ridden by the pros, 9000 series components are a common sight in the peloton and thanks to Shimano's never-ending quest for perfection, feature significant improvements from the older 7900 series. Aside from the noticeable differences in appearance from the previous generation, the new 9000 hubs are now compatible with 11-speed drivetrains and feature revised seals for smooth running and even greater durability. As with all Shimano hubs, this one has a traditional "cup and cone" design that includes loose ball bearings. Cone wrenches are no longer required to adjust and overhaul the hub, though, thanks to a splined bearing adjuster that can be tightened by hand.
