Q: Hi, In case I wanted a 22 or 24T front ring instead of 26T, can I install one from another brand, for example, Blackspire or E*Thirteen? Best Regards,

A: Yes, but it may affect the shifting if you have 2x10 specific derailleur. The 24t would work better than a 22t

Q: How many teeth are on each ring?

A: We offer this crankset with three different variations. 24-38T / 28-40T / 26-38T

Q: Is this BB compatible with my 73 mm English thread shell?

A: Yes, the bottom bracket is compatible with your 73mm shell.

Q: Will this crankset work on my Trek Superfly 29er which has a press fit BB? It currently has a deore triple.

A: These cranks are 68/73mm English Thread and will not work with your Press Fit without possible adapters.

Q: Will a bash guard fit on this with both the 40/28T rings?

A: We do not currently have any bash guards that will work with this crankset unfortunately.

Got these a couple months ago and installed them on my bike just before descending pikes peak down Bar Trail. Picked up a couple new dings from rocks and the chain fell off a few times goin' through the gnar. Even after taking a few links out of my chain to keep it taut. I purchased the 28x34x170mm set and would recommend a chain retainer or swapping out for a narrow wide chain ring. Cranks are very light so is the bottom bracket. It came with spacers for great alignment during install. Very impressed and would buy again in a heart beat over SRAMs $300 XO crankset!

I wanted to go 2x10 with a 38x24 and was slightly concerned about how it would shift with that jump. The XT group works phenomenally well together, and I have nothing bad to say about this crank or the group.

Absolute Best Bang For Your Buck! - Apr 23, 2014

I chose the XT over the XTR for my new mountain bike build mainly due to price difference. XTR offers a negligible weight savings but at almost twice the price. The XT offers the same shifting technology and performance. I couldn't be happier with this crankset. Shifts clean and solid AND a very reliable bottom bracket is even included! I'm a big Shimano fan. Deore level is great platform, but get XT if you can afford the extra coin. You will not regret it!!!
