Long Lasting and Quiet - Oct 31, 2015

When it came time to replace the pads that came on my Ibis HD, I hesitated to spend the extra money for the finned, XTR pads. But a downhill pro working in the shop convinced me that they are worth the money. I'm glad I took his word for it. These pads wear extremely well (far longer than any of the Avid pads I on my Elixers.) These pads are quiet, provide a great initial bite, and I've never experienced any serious brake fade. I don't think the fins are a gimmick. They really do seem to help with heat dissipation. And, as an added bonus, the fins make it easier to pull the pads out when it comes time to replace of clean them! Coupled with the Ice-tech rotors and XT calipers, I couldn't be happier with the performance of these pads.

Resin Fin Pads-Quiet/Wear Quickly - Oct 27, 2015

These pads are expensive and wear out quickly. They are quiet, but I expect more from pads that cost as much as a vehicle's. I feel as though Shimano brakes are like HP printers. They make no money on the brake systems, printers, and hammer you on the pads, ink cartridges.

Superior braking performance - Aug 21, 2014

Shimano has produced an extraordinary brake that runs for less than many of the other guys. Excellent stopping power and the vented fins help keep the heat down reducing the effect of brake fade. A little noisy in my opinion but great longevity and performance.

I use the finned metal pads and they work really well. Good stopping power and modulation, but boy do they wear out quickly. Infrequent riding over 4 months and they were worn (front brakes, rear brakes are still going).

Love these pads. Much quieter than the steel pads and performance is just as good in my opinion. Great wear rate also. I highly recommend these!

Great pads - Jul 02, 2013

My xt brakes came with the finned steel pads but I decided to try the finned resin because they were supposed to be quieter. They are quieter and I haven't noticed any decrease in performance, even on long downhills where I have to stay on the brakes for a long period of time. I absolutely love my xt brakes!!!!
