Shimano XC50N Mountain Shoe
The XC50N Mountain Shoe uses a fiberglass-reinforced nylon sole plate and multi-density rubber sole for the perfect combination of durability, stiffness and grip. All-season off-road racing performance shoe, pure comfort to go the distance.
I put 6000 miles on my M086 shoes and loved them. I wore holes through the mesh at the top of the M086. I looked at the new version of those (M089) and comparable XC50N shoes. I chose the XC shoes because they were supposed to be warmer than the M version of the shoes and since the upper was not mesh, they should last longer. I rode Durango with temps starting out in the 30's. My hands were in pain from the cold, however the XC50N kept my feet fairly warm. They were also very comfortable. So far I am very happy with the purchase of these shoes and PricePoint had the best price I could find.
So far I've been a on handful of rides with these puppies. The soles are pretty stiff, which I like but the cutouts for the cleats seem to be too far back on the soles and even at the cleat's most forward position they are not under the ball of my foot... hanging back a little and under my arches... They are very uncomfortable at the moment and make the nerves in my toes ache pretty quickly. They are a half size larger than I have worn before because I was wanting more room in the toe box, which these do a fine job of providing. I think they'll break in over time and I'm hoping the painful aching goes away with it. Holding my breath....
These are my first pair of shoes and I couldn't have made a better choice. They are extremely comfortable and durable. I would recommend sizing yourself at a local bike shop to make sure you are comfortable with the sizing prior to your purchase if you are worried about the size conversion. These are a great shoe for the price.
This shoe is by far the most comfortable MTB XC shoe I have ever worn. So much so, I often forget to take them off before driving home from the trail. They fit true to size as do every Shimano shoe I have owned. They have a fairly stiff sole so if you do a lot of hike a bike, this might not be the shoe for you. This is a great shoe for the money.
