Wow, Price Point finally has product reviews!!! Yeah, the brakes rock. Love me some Shimano. They are very precise and there isn't much modulation, with is fine with me. The XTR's seem to modulate a little more if you like that sort of thing. It's easy to slide the rear with XT, not as easy with XTR. Both are solid brakes thou. Another note: My LBS informed me that these brakes are NOT serviceable... I had to trash my old XT and get new ones when a part broke. But they lasted several years... very durable.
I've owned Avid Elixir CRs, Formula Oros, Hope Tech M4s and V2s, and the older M775 Shimanos. These are hands-down the best. Instant power and super strong. Almost too strong. If you want modulation, these probably aren't for you. If you want to know you're going to stop right away, get these. There's also almost no maintenance needed for Shimano brakes.
