PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Shimano XTR Race M980 2X10 Crankset

Choosing between a double or triple crankset is an important factor when trying to maximize drivetrain efficiency, and depends heavily on an individual's riding style and the type of trails being ridden. If you see yourself riding steep terrain with lots of climbing, perhaps a triple is the best choice. Conversely, if you live in an area with lots of flat singletrack, perhaps a double is the best choice. Either way, Shimano recognized the need for a wide variety of configurations and developed a number of options in what the company refers to as its "rider-tuned" design philosophy. By categorizing riders as either "race" or "trail" specific, its XTR line is able to encompass nearly every trail condition and riding style. Take for example the XTR Race M980 cranks seen above. With 38-26 gearing, a standard 168mm Q-factor, and Shimano's most efficient chain line configuration, this double is ideal for both expert racers and trail aficionados.

  • Gearing: 38-26T
  • Dual Spike chainring technology
  • 10-speed specific
  • Dyna-Sys
  • Race inspired 2x10
  • Standard 104/64 bolt pattern
