The SLIME Tube Protector is a lightweight durable strip of extruded polyurethane that fits between the tire and the tube. It protects the tube from punctures by nails, glass, thorns, etc.
To Install Tube Protector:
Remove wheel from bicycle and deflate tube
Remove tire from rim using tire lever
Remove inner tube
Lay tire on ground and insert Slime Liner against tire. Overlap the ends of the liner. Do not trim liner
Reinsert inner tube and slightly inflate. Liner must be between tire and tube
Replace tire on rim while keeping Slime Liner centered
Reinflate tire to recommended air pressure. Do not overinflate
I bought the original liners years ago. They were tough, very hard, stiff, thick, and heavy. Because they were hard to work with and heavy, I put them away and forgot about them. When I started having trouble with thorns and goatheads, I installed the old Slime liners. To deal with the weight problem I changed to lt wt tubes. The old liners worked better than I expected. I had been using Mr. Tuffy's, and they were a disappointment. The old Slime worked so well I order another set of the new improved liners. These turned to be thinner, light wt, very flexible and limp. They offered no protection from the thorns. Totally useless and CRAP.
