Q: We are trying to find out how far this swings out. We purchased a 24ft. motorhome with a rear slide out and trying to find something that if we would stop when traveling to where we are going (like a rest stop) that they would still be safe and we wouldn't have to take them off for the night. We were also thinking about the tilt racks too.. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
A: Hi Janice,
This rack would be a good match for your needs, with two caveats:
1-Lock mechanisms of this type serve as deterrents, but they are not completely impervious. It is never recommended to leave bikes unattended for extended periods.
2-If your motorhome is very wide or extends very far, it may not give you enough clearance to open the slide-out. The closed swing-arm is 21.48 inches long from edge to edge, so when deployed you should get around 36-38 inches of lateral clearance from the center of your hitch mount. Large bikes or wide handle bars may still be too close. If it would be a tight fit, please contact Thule for more assistance.
Hope this helps, thanks for shopping!
