I'm not sure about this tire. - Jun 09, 2014

I wish I had a better experience with this tire than I did but unfortunately these tires let me down. I put a pair of these on my Yeti SB66 for general XC riding on rocky hard pack trails. I felt that they packed with mud too easily & were inconsistent in corners. It seemed like the front end washed out easily on these. I ride mostly hard pack with tons of rocks & ledges. On the rocky stuff they held their own as long as moisture wasn't added to the mix. These tires really struggle on moist surfaces in my experience. Even when the trail was pretty dry they would gather moisture from a creek crossing, then promptly pack right with soil immediately after getting back on dirt. And that whole triangle tread pattern thing they boast was lost on me. I didn't feel the traction was very good. As long as your bike is upright, these tires were marginal. But lean hard into your corners or try to drift the bike and it's anyone's guess as to whether they'll drift. I think the slip angle on these tires is too steep. After a couple weeks of riding I started ripping some knobs of the front & rear tires. The final blow (pardon the pun) came when I came hard into a corner & totally blew a tire off the rim at 30psi. That crash was no bueno because I wasn't expecting that to happen. I've had good luck with Tioga's tires in the past but I think maybe these tires were designed for a mellow XC rider/trail.

I got the 26", 2.3 version for my full suspension trailbike. It grips very well and has not worn too fast. Seems to work well on my rocky and technical east coast (PA) riding. The price was right too!
