Ordered this stand when it came up during PP's one day sale, thinking I really need one but not willing to pay the $$$ for some of the more expensive options. All the reviews I read were good so I was pretty confident in purchasing. When the unit arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. It feels very solid, easy to set up, easy to operate and packs down well making it easy to throw in the car for road trips. The clamping mechanism allows you to adjust the clamping force just right, so you won't damage your frame. The plastic teeth mentioned in other reviews are a non issue. They are used on the head angle adjustment (to level the bike once clamped), but chances are you probably won't be adjusting it that often, and as long as you adjust it with the weight of the bike off the clamp then I can't see ever wearing out the teeth. I set up the heaviest bike I own on it (28.5lbs) and the stand felt solid and no slippage on any of the height or angle adjustments points where skewers are used. The carry bag is a nice bonus, the tool tray is useful for smaller parts and tools, but not really large enough for bigger stuff. All and all an excellent bike stand that I would recommend to anyone. I can't believe I waited this long to purchase a stand, the stucco on the side of my house will thanks me!
This stand is super durable and makes it easy to work at any angle! The case makes it easy to fold up and toss in the car for quick trail head repairs!
I just received my work stand this morning. I set it up immediately, and quickly noticed it is far superior in every way, and lighter than my previous stand that is of similar design, but a different manufacturer. The features, the ease of setup, the case, the light weight, and added tool tray make it a fantastic replacement for my older travel stand. I will enjoy years of satisfaction as a result. Oh, and did I mention I got it on the one day sale for $99. Bonus on the score!!
Got it on special for $90. Nice stand even at the regular price.
got this stand a while ago ,just wanted a cheap work stand . Was worried about the plastic teeth that hold the head but i have turned the stand over with bikes on it several times and it has held up . nice and light great to take on the road . only dislike is clamping up bike is slow and have to screw in and out handle before flipping lever . not a big deal but threads are fine so takes several turns.
Bought this stand thre months ago, and use it several times a week. It works great. Love the included tool tray, makes keeping your little tools and parts close by. I have used the stand in a number of positions and the stand handles the bikes with aplomb. I wouldn't worry about the plastic teeth, it hasn't shown a bit of wear. The height adjustability on this stand makes working on different parts of the bike a breeze, and easy on the back. The stand is portable and durable. I have used it in my garage and at the trail head. Great tool for the price. I would highly recommend this product.
I purchased this as a Black Friday deal and for the sale price it was a great buy however for the msrp of over $250 I would say there are better options out there.
We ordered two of these; the packaging isn't very protective and one of the two arrived broken. PP was great, and sent us a new one upon return of the broken item. Upon assembly, when fully cranked down the plastic clamp on the main stem of the stand didn't provide enough force to keep the main tube from sinking under the weight of the bike. But after a little modification, it appears to be holding fine. We had to add a few washers since the diameter of the lever was larger than the space provided and remove a bit of material so that it could clamp tighter, but that solved the problem. The jaws that hold the actual bike have worked fine so far, although I wouldn't say they're great. The teeth on the head where it allows you to rotate the jaws have more play in them than is ideal; the bike wobbles around a bit even with it cranked as tight as it'll go. Hopefully they'll hold up. All in all, it's a good rack for the price, as long as you're willing to fiddle with it a bit to get it to work properly. Folds up nicely to store in the corner when not in use, which is a great feature.
I love this stand. It is well designed and well-built. The other reviewer expressed concern about plastic or resin teeth on the rotating head. I'm not concerned about this as I always mount the bikes by the seat post to the sstand, so I will not be changing this position very often, if ever.
Just set up this stand. It seems pretty sturdy. It sets up very easily, adjust well and keeps the bike where i put it. My only concern is the plastic teeth of the rotater. They may be the weak link. Still, for the money it is hard to pass up. will update after using it for a few weeks.
